Cumulative GPA

Hello,

So I'm aware of the fact that WGU is pass/fail & if you pass, you get a 3.00 GPA. However, if you graduate from WGU, would you just have a 3.00, automatically or would they factor in your prior credits you earned before transferring to WGU & your cumulative GPA would consider your previous grades, as well as the 3.00?

3.0 automatically. However, if your applying to grad school most likely they'll factor in all your grades from wgu and other school.

Wait, why not a 4.0 if you pass? Do MSN programs accept that? I am waiting to see the status of my app to WGU and that is concernug seeing I am seeing this as a fresh start if I grt in and would really need excellent transcript scores when I apply for a MSN

It's a 3.0 automatically because they do not grade on a numeric or letter based system. Either you meet the requirements of the assignment or you don't. Then you pass and move on. So at the end you have met all the requirements and they give you a 3.0 GPA.

Because the courses are Pass/fail and not a letter grade. WGU doesn't actually even assign a GPA on your transcript, but there is a note on the bottom or back that a pass is equivalent to a 3.0 GPA. This is because to get a Pass in a course you're not necessarily getting an A, what would be equivalent to a B is considered passing. Yes some MSN programs will not accept this, or if they do, will likely accept it at a 3.0, which will affect your GPA. My recommendation to you would be to contact MSN programs you're applying to and see if they will accept WGU. Based on your name, I'm assuming you want to do an MSN program to be an NP. These programs are competitive and depending on the program, a 3.0 from WGU May hurt you because it won't be a high enough GPA. Some other NP programs though you'd be good to go with WGU.
