Cuban nurses

Published

Are there any cuban nurses preparing for the RN nclex exam? :yeah::nuke::typing

Why did you go to Canada in the first place? Did you know that once you set foot on land on US soil you can stay.

Hi NurseCubanita :)

I'm Cuban born and educated. I came to Canada because of my husband. I like it here but sometimes (especially when winter is coming) I long for a place with more benign weather:D

On the other hand, I need a US license because DH is planning on studying for a PhD there, unsure as to where we'll be relocating (just for two or three years).

I wonder if the Cuban adjustment law still applies if I'm a PR of Canada (maybe a citizen at the time). Any ideas??

Take care and have a good day :)

Hi I am cuban as well, I am taking the exam in 2 months, if you send your nurse diploma, transcripts and study program to Josef Silny you can get everything done pretty quick, they translate and evaluate your docs. Now I don't know for other states but for FL you just send the docs once translated and evaluated by Josef Silny to the Board of nursing here in Florida along with the fee, the application and proof of english proficiency and it takes about 1-3 months fro them to approve your papers if everything is in order. Well, good luck and let me know if I can be of help.

Hi Ximena, I took a look at the JosefS website, and I don't have it clear as to the evaluation: do they need the originals from the school or from the applicant??? I feel kind of scared of sending my degree to them because I won't be able to pick it up directly. Did you actually get your docs through JosefS or CGFNS???

Good luck :)

I'm sorry but if you're a permanent resident of Canada, the Wet/Dry Foot Act doesn't apply. It's a political thing. Anyway, where is he studying for his PhD? Would you qualify for a TN visa since you're a permanent resident of Canada. I'm unsure about that or do you have to be a citizen of Canada? I thought you would have to be a citizen of Canada. Anyway, keep searching, hope you find something soon. Good Luck

To qualify for a TN visa you have to be a citizen of Canada or Mexico. Legal resident doesn't meet requirements

Hi, i went myself to the one here in Miami with my diploma and the transcripts, got them translated and sent it to the board. I am not sure if they want originals, why don't you give them a call?

Ahhhhh how I miss Miami. Anyway, regarding the transcripts, did the school provide them to you before you left Cuba? I ask because it's hard to get back to Cuba, my mom hasn't been back since before I was born and my cousins were there in 2005 and before that 2001. It's hard to get to and from Cuba from the US. So I'm wondering how you got the transcripts.

Hi guys:

Probably I'll wait to apply for the Canadian citizenship in a few months and then it might be possible to apply for the TN visa, could it be possible???

Thank goodness I have time because DH doesn't have all his process/decisions made yet :) Anyway, I need to shake my ***** on the issue because I don't want to be a burden for the time we're going to be there.

Yeah, Cuba is a pain when it comes to documents, and I think it's even worse for those living in the US :(

Thank you again and have a good day :redbeathe

I brought them with me. When I finished and before they knew I was coming. It is very difficult to get anything done if you are here. But if you have someone there that can go to the school and request them it may be easier, there is always a way around if someone does it in person. Good luck to all.

Where are you?

Still takes time to go through the citizenship process and you need to sit a exam etc. If your husband is still deciding then plenty of time. You need to have lived in Canada 1,095 days out of 1,460 days before you can apply

Sure SD, my focus now is my life and career in Canada. I'll be eligible to apply for Cit. in the first trimester or 2010 (God willing), so hopefully by the end of 2010 I'll be a Canadian citizen (wow:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe).

The fact that I have plenty of time is positive, so I won't be "desperate petgroomer" in case things take longer than planned.
