Cuban Nurses In NM??

Published

Hi:

I'm a Cuban Nurse moving to NM. A complete new place to me. A lot of people said that I will love it since I like skiing and adventure. Anyway I'm alittle bit nevous about my move. Is there any cuban nurse working/living in NM?

Come to think of it, I've never met a Cuban in New Mexico. But there is a town called "Cuba" in northwest part of the state.:p

Hahahaha:chuckle. Think again. There's a bunch of us everywhere. You may not notice us but, we are here (like aliens in MIB):coollook:.

So any luck finding other Cuban nurses in New Mexico? :-P

How weird! I'm Cuban-American (padres cubanos, nacida en los Estados Unidos) and in Florida and have been considering a move to northern NM or southern CO after RN graduation,... which is still a few years away. I was talking to my family about possibly having to stock up on some of staples before we move... like massive amounts of Pilon/Bustelo, mojo, turron etc. (Just a few things I didn't see in stores there and I don't think I can live without.)

So is there really a lot of talk about NM pay rates down here? I'm not working in health care atm, so I have not heard anything. I'm just drawn to the climate, people, culture... I love everything about New Mexico!

What about you? Have you moved yet? If so, how do you like NM?

Well... I moved to Santa Fe (north of NM) and guess what... I LOVE IT!!!

Even without Bustelo or La llave (I don't like Pilon). The weather it's lovely, dry and cool(50 f today). Just 2 days ago there fall 2 feet of snow in the mountains. Today I went up to the top just to grab some in my hands. I just bought a Nikkon camera and I get the best pictures ever!!! Coming down the mountains I found Deers (I remmenber Alvarez guedez and his monologue). If you send me your email, I will send some pics. Next weekend it's the Ballons festival... They said it's amaizing. I want to go.

The hospital it's small but, so far I like it. Frendly people everywhere, polite, smiling....

What do you know... I don't know anybody here and I falled in love with this place.

So far there's 6 cuban nurses in Albuquerque that contacted me. We keep in touch.

It all sounds wonderful. I can't wait to move!!!!

I am really happy that things are going well for you... and that you found a few more of us out there. I can't blame you for falling in love with Santa Fe.. it's a great place to live.

Pictures would be awesome! I've sent you a PM. :yeah:

Welcome to New Mexico Bigbro!!

You will soon find out this place is truly the "Land of Enchantment". Autumn is my favorite time of year in New Mexico, the cool crisp mornings and the warm afternooons are just delightful. Did you have a chance to make it to Ballon Fiesta? Wasn't it spectacular!! Well, I make the rounds around the hospitals of Northern New Mexico. I'm gonna keep my eyes open and see if I can guess who you are. Don't worry, I'm not a stalker, but more of the big sister or mom type.:icon_roll

Again, Bienvenido!!

Southwest Nurse

Not a problem, come and get me! Hahahha!. I did went to ballon fiesta but the flight was cancelled because of the weather. So sad...

I' ve a RN license from NM and considering to move out of Florida, I'm cuban. Please anyone konw the salary as an RN in Home Health Care in New Mexico??

A lot of people are moving out of Florida.

The salary depend of your experience and certifications> some places pay 23/h, some others 26. On home Health it's not by hour but by visit. Usually it's $25. The more patients you have, more money you make. :smokin:
