Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

I'm like 80% convinced it's a good idea

Awesome! Im Naomi. Thankfully I live like 5mins away from NCC...so it's perfect. I'm newly 32 and I feel like I'm gonna be in a sea of early 20 something's haha. Glad to see somebody close to my age.

Hope that's not the case! I would say that out of 5 girls in my AP2 class (@HCC) who applied to CCCNP, 4 are closer in age to us, one is a young 20's. However, not one of them is going to Norwalk! I don't know anyone there. I am surprised that you are the only one who spoke up on this thread!

Out of 80 seats, so far only 52 have registered... My advisor was in touch within days of my acceptance, I made an appointment and registered that same day. Follow up emails went out saying if people hadn't met with their advisor they needed to hurry up and do so. Wonder what the hold up is!

I'm sure we will hear more about this in orientation, but I wanted to share something that was news to me! Found this on 2016-2017 Handbook:

1. The student is required to complete the online CT Hospital Association (CHA)

Health and Safety Training Course and required clinical orientation activities prior to

participation in clinical experiences. The course is available at:

Health and Safety Training Course

Yay I got in too!! We will be classmates! Are you going to the july 14th orientationn?

Hi @cg1018,

Would you have an idea if there are evening clinical options available the first semester at NCC? It looks like on the schedule (below) it shows hours from 3:00 pm - 9:30 pm. How likely would an incoming student get those evening hours? Also, do you remember which books you had for your first semester so that maybe we can get a head start?

Hi everyone!

I came upon this thread and saw some of you were looking for more info regarding clinical scheduling and how to make it work with your employer. I am about to graduate Norwalk's program so I hope I can give you some sort of an idea of how this works. Clinical can be any two days of the week, first semester I believe it is usually Thursday/Friday or Wednesday/Thursday and I believe the time frame first semester is only 6.5 hours so from 7a-1:30p. First semester is a little bit different than the other 3 semesters because you spend one day in lab at the school which is considered "clinical" and one day at your assigned clinical site which may be a nursing home or possibly a hospital. They do suggest you quit your job but since this is highly unrealistic there are many people who have passed through the program with a job and kids at home. This is not easy and the people who did not have to work definitely have had an easier time managing work loads and studying (people aren't lying though that as the semesters progress it only gets tougher). You can definitely pull off working part time when you are not in lecture or clinical so don't be discouraged, you just need to put in a little bit of extra effort and stay up on the weeks lessons and assignments. I may be getting ahead of myself but for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semester you will have clinical two days a week still but the scheduling is a bit different. Clinical can be morning or evenings Tues/Wed, Wed/Thur, Thur/Fri, or Fri/Sat. Something they did for us in second semester which seemed rare was that they offered clinical on a Saturday for 12 hours so you only had to be in clinical one day a week rather than two days. This was first come first serve based on student interest. I hope this helped a little bit, I know it is all very confusing and overwhelming at times. Congratulations to all of you though and I wish you tons of luck on this journey!

I met up with the advisor too, within a few days of her sending out the email. I feel like she could sense my anxiety. I know it's only a meeting to register the classes and review what I've already taken, but still. She was really nice.

I am planning on going to the July 14th orientation, yes. I want to establish what days I'm going to end up with in clinicals so I can sort out my job schedule. Quitting my job isn't an option for me, so I need to try to work it out.

I am also going to Norwalk! I am taking micro this summer there, I could not find it open anywhere else! I am 27 yrs old. I also live right near Norwalk. Very excited to start!
