CSUSB Winter 2015 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! :)

I understand that me posting a forum about the Winter 2015 applications is really early. However, I am having serious doubts about being accepted into the nursing program.

God willing, I will be applying with a 3.64 GPA and my TEAS score is not definate at the moment. I am taking the exam on June 20th at Loma Linda.

I thought we could all connect here and post our stats. I know that I am not the only one freaking out about now.

P.S: Could someone give me advice for the TEAS test? I've been studying the ATI study guide and also bought the McGraw Hill book. I just feel like giving up now. :dead:

Hey everyone! I'm also applying this winter 2015. My stats are

-3.87 gpa

-76 on teas (kinda low) Retaking it tomorrow for hopefully a better score!

-Have all the other letters and residency.

Hope we all get in!

Hi, just stumbled upon this page on a search

I feel like it's going to be difficult for me to grab a spot in this nursing program with my stats : /

winter 2015

GPA: 3.53 (21)

TEAS: 79.3% (5)

Info. sesh: (1)

Bilingual: (1)

Letters: (2)

CoResidence: (5)

Total: 35/54

:(

Is this an avg. winter application stat?

Hi roundbagel,

I heard the average for fall was a GPA of 3.85 and a TEAS score of 90%. I know that winter is a little less competitive than fall but after talking to a peer advisor the stats for winter don't fall too short from those. Retake the TEAS if you can! They don't care how many times you take it

@Bunnny Thanks for the encouragement! unfortunately for me, I have taken the TEAS 3 times... and that last attempt was just yesterday. Feels like my studying and paying for the exam only amounts to that much >

do you think my chances are low? I did consider fixing my GPA next year if I am not accepted.

I'm not sure about your chances because every years application average is a little bit different so we don't know exactly who were competing against, if that makes sense? I mean if you've tried your best then submit the application and take it from there. The good thing about CSUSB is that they give you the option of raising your GPA :)

Hey Roundbagel,

I think you stats are just a tiny bit below average. When I met with a nursing guidance counselor she emailed me the average stats of getting in. For Winter the average GPA was 3.77= 26 points, and the average TEAS was 83.4% = 7 points. So thats 33 points but with all the extra points its 42 points average for Winter.

However I read some of the past forums and some people got in with 37 points!. So I think you may have a chance :)

If not I would definitely recommend retaking some classes to get A's or try a different form of studying the TEAS book. I also just retook the TEAS this Sat. the pen and pencil one which is personally easier for me to take. I got a 86.7%. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Joshling, your GPA is awesome! Thats the same score I got first time I took the teas. I just retook it Sat and got an 86.7 (thank goodness), and my gpa is 3.69 (not the best).

Good luck and hope we all get in!

Jenni_turbo that's awesome! I got the same score on my teas so ill be applying with those stats. Hopefully I have enough points to get in!:/ I know winters a little less difficult to get in, but it seems likes every year the standard are getting higher and higher

Joshling, I hope we get in! I know what you mean it gets harder every year and trying to apply to other schools is just as difficult because they all require additional prerequisites and different deadlines to meet :/

Does anyone know when we should be hearing back from the department?

I think they submit letters Oct 7th and after that it kinda just depends. Just reading through forums on here I know someone last winter received they're letter Oct 9th and then someone from that same cohort received their letter Oct 18. So I guess it varies.

Hi everyone!! I also applied for Winter 2015 and just called yesterday to check on letters. They state we should be receiving them mid-end of October. I have friends who got in Winter 2014 and received their letters around this week last year so we should hear back soon. Also, I saw a comment posted regarding how they determine proof of residency and basically, if you reside in Riverside/San Bernardino counties, you get an extra 5 points. My stats aren't so great. I have a 3.88 gpa and received a 78.7% on TEAS. I am at 41 points and am feeling kind of confident, more nervous than anything else though, because my friends got in Winter 2014 at 40 points.

Hopefully, we all get in!! Good luck to everyone!!
