CSUN ABSN Spring 2019

Published

Wanted to start a thread for everyone applying for the Spring 2019 cohort of the ABSN program at CSUN!

I would just check off the boxes as you gather your materials. I called the office and they gave me a confusing answer....but basically the list is there to help both applicants and administration stay organized. We are overthinking it...

I also have a class in progress this semester. Hoping it doesn't negatively effect our chances either :)

I was reading past ABSN and a few people had classes in progress the semester before they started. We just have to make sure we turn in our final transcripts as soon as they're posted in December :)

I was worried about that bc one of my classes is waitlisted, and it won't show up on my transcript bc I'm not enrolled :( but I'm third on this list, so I was going to send a supplemental transcript once I get in the class in fall

Did those people end up getting accepted into CSUN ABSN program? The website states priority will go to those who can demonstrate they have met requirements. I would say that if anyone is completing one of the science prerequisites it is likely they won't be considered. Those grades are extremely important in choosing between candidates, especially since the TEAS scores are not taken into consideration. Selection will probably occur before the end of the fall term.

Im sure it's fine but I would call and ask if prerequisites being taken in Fall would be considered. I am taking a physiology summer course that ends 1 week after the application deadline and they said that it would be okay to bring that last transcript because it was only a week after. The program starts on January 22nd so that would be pretty close but hopefully you can still apply!

Yeah a few got in that had a prerequisite or two in progress in the CSUN 2015 thread I was reading. Also, hopefully they have a summer session this time as well because people that applied for the upcoming cycle got waitlisted but were accepted into the following cycle. It's always better to try and apply than not to so it's worth a shot :) I emailed them a month or so ago if they were going to have a summer session but it hasn't been confirmed yet since the program just got back from hiatus.

does anyone know if they will be accepting applicants to enter into a fall19 cohort? Thank you

Everything online only says Spring 2019. I'm sure they would be happy to answer that question if you called and asked! I think it's one step at a time right now because it's the first cohort back after the hiatus.

I have to finish my last sciences and I spoke to CSUN, they stated that all sciences should be completed prior to fall 2018 for consideration.

That makes absolute sense! For those still finishing up your sciences, you'll still get your shot soon!

If you're looking into CSUN- might be worth looking into CSU FULLERTON as they also offer ABSN (fall admits only). The University Application is open from October 1-November 30, and the School of Nursing Application is open from October 1-January 15 (complete both). Applicants may have two (2) prerequisites (only one may be a science prerequisite) in progress during the spring semester of the application period.

There's also the CSULA ABSN that starts in Summer! You have to be done with the prereqs tho. Many from this past cohort finished their courses in the fall and just waited for their transcript to show the final grades before turning in their application. That program is HIGHLY competitive though, just a heads up. I have a 4.0 in the science prerequisites and got in the 98th percentile of the TEAS and got an interview but was waitlisted which ended up being a blessing for personal issues but it just shows how competitive these programs are.
