Everyone who is applying post your overall scores!
i am currently at a 9.48! I think I might take the TEAS again to try and bump up my score.
Is anybody else considering working full time while in the program? Like 12hr shifts 3 days a week? I work at a hospital and I keep asking nurses if they worked full time while in school. I get some that did it and say it's doable, and others tell me they didn't and don't recommend it. I'm leaning towards taking the advice of the ones that actually went through the process since they know for a fact that it can be done (given the will power.) Anyway, I know I can do it, and I pretty much have no choice if I want to maintain my (and my mother/sister's) standard of living. So if anyone else is in my boat it would be good to connect so we can have a support system of sorts. Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation as yourself. I don't have much financial assistance from my family and unless I want to live off of student loans, I need to work at least part-time. I currently work per-diem at a hospital as a sitter, but I will be switching to a tele tech part time (2x/week @ 0700-1930). I think working will definitely be hard during school, but as with everything, you just need to find a balance. Plus, I think working in a hospital setting and hearing/seeing everything we are learning in school will help reinforce all the material. It's also a good way to ensure an RN position after school
what hospital do you work at?
Hey spinnerbait, I'm planning to work 3x 12-hour EMT shifts a week while in nursing school. I usually work 1700-0500 Sat thru Monday, and I like how I'm able to interact with ER nurses who teach me pharmacology and pathology whenever I ask them. I think working in a hospital will be a great opportunity to see the textbook "come alive"
Thank you for your replies! I've been working at an emergency department for about three years now so I know all about that hands on experience. I'll let you know what hospital I work at when we meet in person, this being a public forum and all. I would trade in my position for a sitter one right about now so I can get more study potential. The ER I work at is not a trauma center so the patient census fluctuates quite a bit. Some shifts I work nonstop and others I have plenty of time to peek at flashcards. Anyway, it's nice to know I'm not alone in the struggle, lol. My name is Vicky, I'll be looking forward to meeting you two at orientation.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to miss being able to study at work once I switch positions. And speaking of orientation, have you received your letter stating the date and time? I'm getting kinda paranoid, so I was thinking of calling to find out if they sent them out yet. My name is Troy, by the way. Look forward to meeting you as well!

I was looking for something big enough to carry my laptop, books (I hope we get ebook options...), lunch bag and large water bottle. I just ordered it and even though it also comes in a cute pink/gray color, I got a black one based on price. It also seems to function as an awesome carry on bag for flights. Anyway thought I would share. I'll post again when I get it to give my hands on review.
Hello everyone! So I have a friend that was recently waitlisted for Spring 2016. She's pretty high up on the list but hasn't heard anything yet. I was wondering if any of you were waitlisted and have received information or know of someone that has? Just curious if she has moved up on the list! I want this so badly for her. Figured any kind on information will put our minds at ease! Thanks in advance!! :)
