I believe that the CSULA ELMN program begins Summer 2009, so the application period for this year ended January 8th. They have only one cohort per year, so if you haven't applied already, you'll have to wait until next year.
At the information session, Kathleen Hinoki, the program director, said that last year they received more than 100 applications for 20 spots. She's anticipating more this year (unfortunately for us!). I believe only the finalists are interviewed. All who are accepted will know for sure by April 1st.
Like most programs your TEAS scores need to be current (within a year?) and in the 70th percentile.
Good luck!
Hello! It's great to meet another applicant! I think I did pretty well on all of my pre-req's, though it's kind of hard to compare between people based on where everyone took those pre-reqs (i.e. community college, CSU or UC). I just took the TEAS two weeks ago, actually, and I was very excited to see that I scored a 93.5% which ended up being the 99th percentile!! I'm just glad that everything for my application is finally complete and now I can just sit back and wait :) How did you do?
Hi, Everyone!
I also applied to the CSULA ELMN program for Summer 2009. Are there any ELMN students out there? I've talked to a few people that completed the BSN or regular MSN at CSULA, but would like some advice/ info from an actual ELMN student.
I wasn't able to go to an info session because by the time I asked it was full. CSULA is my top choice because of the built in NP specialization. I feel like it will be such a long wait until April! I know that they only accept 20 students, so I'm not holding my breath but still very hopeful.
I took the TEAS test last week (on day two of a bad cold and felt miserable). I got 90% as my total score which is 97% for the national ranking. I double-checked on the ELMN info page and it said that the national percentile ranking should be above 70% in each category. My national pecentile rankings are 96/85/98/95. I know I would have done much better on the test (esp. Math!) if I hadn't been sick, but I don't know if it is worth retaking the TEAS. Then I remember that they only accept 20 students ( Would you retake it?
I hope we all make it!!
Hi there!
I also applied for the ELMN 09. It is great to find this post! To Levoila, personally, I would not retake the TEAS. 97% national ranking sounds pretty good to me! There is only 3% of people above you.
I can't wait to find out! This is my second year applying to nursing schools, so I am extra anxious. Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone out there has applied to the CSULA ELMN program for Fall 2009? Maybe we can discuss what everyone's heard about their application, interviews, TEAS scores, etc.
:wink2:
