CSULA BSN Program Fall 2018

Published

Hey! I wanted to start a forum for CSULA fall 2018. I have been looking everywhere for one! Anyways, just wanted to talk to others about their apps and such. This is kind of a nerve wracking experience, and I wanted to compare points/progress on the application. I tallied my points and I have 25. I hope it gets me in. Fingers crossed. I have also applied to a bunch of other schools, but CSULA is the dream :)

hey everyone!! i just wanted to double check, but for orientation next week we only have to have the immunization is the health clearance documentation due right?

Hi! I called today regarding this question and was told that the health clearance is due on August 20th and that they are going to explain everything on orientation

so then nothing is due on the actual day of orientation?

Yes, we just need to bring the money:)

Hello Future Classmates! Do we also have to take money to buy our books when we attend orientation?

Hi everyone! I am currently a CSULA student applying for fall 2019! I posted this in the CSULA Fall 2019 thread as well, and figured this would be the next best place to ask (since you all have already gone through the dreaded process of applying *shudders*) :)

So far, here I am points wise:

Pre req GPA: 3.8 (10 points)

Cum GPA: 3.875 (5 points)

TEAS test: Reading: 75% percentile (3 points)

English Language Usage: 99% percentile (5 points)

Volunteer Hours: >100 (2 points)

In total, 25 points!!!

I will be retaking my TEAS test again to see if I can do better (aiming for 27 points!!!) and just pick between the better of the 2. Does anyone know how long it takes to send your TEAS test results to CSULA if you took it at another test location? I recently took it at Pasadena and I am not sure if I want to take it there again for my second time because the only available dates for me are in mid/late November: Veteran's Day & the week of Thanksgiving Break. Someone currently in the program told me that for them, it took at most a month for CSULA to receive their scores! The due date for the application hasn't been updated yet, but it's probably going to be early/mid January (like always), and I wanted to submit my app around the end of December just to be on the safe side (to avoid any technical difficulties that may occur around submission time).

They do have earlier dates, such as the tail end of October, but I don't want to risk missing class (hence me possibly scheduling the test on the days we don't have school), especially since it would be midterm season around that time and also because I have Bio lec/lab those days (Pasadena's testing dates are all on Mondays).

Also, if you take it at CSULA (it's so hard to get a spot, I remember attempting in June to get a spot for August and it was all sold out, that's why I'm leaning more towards Pasadena) do you still have to send your scores to them? I know that wherever you take your test, your scores will automatically be sent to them, but do we have to send them a 2nd time?

Sorry if this is all over the place *sweating* I heard that they weed out a majority of applicants because they don't fill out the application right, fail to send test scores, transcripts to the right places, at the right time, etc.

Any help would be appreciated & thank you in advance!

Hey!

Yeah, retake your TEAS, and you should be in!

(Fingers crossed, of course.)

I would double-check the rules for which TEAS score you are allowed to submit, in terms of if you Can submit the best of the two. And, depending on when you took your TEAS, you may not have the option to submit the first one.

I do not remember how long it took for my scores to arrive, but I THINK you're OK as long as they're postmarked by the corrrect date.

If you have questions, call the nursing office and ask Florita, she's a great help!

Good luck to you, hopefully we'll see you next year!
