CSUEB Nursing Program Anyone???

Published

Hi guys,

For those accepted in CSUEB's Nursing program, what was the average GPA of those that were admitted in (year of 2008)? I'm applying so that I can try to get in for Fall 2009. My current standing:

Pre-req GPA: 3.78 (excluding Microbio & Statistics)

Second Language? Yes (filling out the application)

Health Care Worker? Yes (filling out the application

TEAS test: Currently 82, but planning to re-take so I get a 90+

Do you think I'm in good standing? As of now, I have microbio and stats in progress... does the nursing program base admission on what the student has on his/her Nursing application (ie. the program excludes "IP" classes and rank you based on what you have filled out on the application)... Or do they wait for the "in-progress" classes to finish to see what the student got for that class (so that they can sum up the final GPA before they decide on your admission). Please help!

Ugh.. I'm really nervous about this...

Thank you guys. God bless.

hi there,

I think you have a great chance to get in with your current gpa, the only thing you should concern is the TEAS score, it would help you a lot if you can retake and get above 90. Since there is no limitation of retaking TEAS at the CSUEB, you should retake it as soon as possible. For the in-progress classes, you are allowed to apply for the program while you still have 1 or 2 in-progress classes, they will calculate your gpa base on how may pre-reqs classes you took, not included the in-progress classes

Do you have other nursing programs in mind beside the CSUEB?

Good luck!

Thank you, never2late.

Actually, I'm only applying to CSUEB and LMC. I'm unable to afford expenses to apply for other schools (the $50-55/ university application) and that's why I'm limited to these two schools.

ps: So my in-progress classes (microbio & stats) are ending the end of this Fall (in December), yet I don't have to send in my official transcripts until February of 2009. So wait, let me get this straight... the Nursing dpt. really only looks at the GPA you put in your nursing application? They base GPA strictly off whatever GPA you put in the Nursing application? They don't admit you in the program based on the GPA on your official transcripts with ALL the completed pre-reqs?

I'm 99% sure that they calculate with ALL completed pre-req's, and they wait for all the official transcripts (in Feb) to do this. The foreign language and health care worker forms aren't due until Feb either, so I'm pretty positive that is when they do the calculating.

Thank you, jennafezz.

Sigh. I'm just mental over all of it. A GpA of 3.6 still has a good chance of getting in this program, yes? (considering that I get a 90 on my TEAS and fill out both supplemental applications).

=\

I am currently a Level II student at CSUEB -Concord and I think you have an excellent chance of getting in. I know in 2007 the average GPA was 3.8, but that it did go down in 2008. I had a 3.9 but I had no supplement points at all. I was told that only a handful ever do. I took the TEAS twice as well and I got in the 80's originally and then got in the 90's the second time. I was told that the average score does go up about 10 points. I know people who got in with lower GPAs and a TEAS score of low to mid 80's. I only applied to two schools as well so I wanted to make sure I had the best chance of getting in. I wish you the best of luck.

Regards,

Jean
