CSUB Nursing Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm opening this forum for those that are applying to the program beginning Fall 2020 ? My stats:

Prerequisite GPA: 3.81

Math/Science GPA: 3.73

TEAS: 84.7

I live about 2 hours away from the school so I won't receive the continuing student or residency points.

I also applied to CSUCI.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Acceptance into CSUB is separate from acceptance into the CSUB nursing program. You would get a provisional letter of acceptance into the school first, and then you may or may not be accepted into CSUB's nursing program. The CSUB nursing program letters of acceptance come later, between June and August. You have great stats though, I'm sure you will get in!!

Just received an email saying that nursing admission will be giving out from May to August. Being accepted to the university does not mean acceptance to the program. Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone! I received a provisional acceptance letter on 12/20/19.

I was of the belief that this letter indicates acceptance into the Nursing program, because CSUB listed "Major:Nursing" within the acceptance letter.

I was rejected from CSULA-- their policy is if you're not admitted into the major, you're not admitted into the university.

I'm feeling super anxious and disheartened now, thinking that I might not be accepted into the nursing program ?

My Stats:

Overall GPA: 3.68

Prereq GPA: 3.42

Science & Math: 3.28 (that 1 class killed me)

TEAS: 92.7

Best of luck to everyone!

No, that's not the way CSUB works, but dont be discouraged yet! The nursing program acceptance letters just haven't come in quite yet. Hang tight! They will be coming in the next couple of months. Good luck!

I found it weird that we need to accept our enrollment to the school before we know if we are in the nursing program. Kinda don’t want to spend $120 just to find out in late May that I did not get into the program. Has anybody else been hearing back from other schools?

Same, I'd just call them to make sure. It makes absolutely no sense to spend money on a school where I might not even get into their program. The only thing I can think of is acceptance letters really do come come out in April vs June, hence having to pay the deposit by May 1st.

Has anybody received an email from the school?

I have received an email saying that I am provisionally accepted. Does that mean we are provisional accepted to the nursing program?

Has anyone accepted their offer to the University? I called the school earlier and was told that they won't be able to process my nursing application until I have accepted the offer to the university. It just doesn't make any sense to me to do this without knowing my admission status in regards to the nursing program.

You make a good point, cocoaqueen. I've never really thought about CSUB's nursing program acceptance process, but it does seem unfair, especially to people coming from out of town. I'm from Bakersfield, and we just know that's how it is- if we dont get in to the nursing program, we just take other classes at CSUB and apply the next year or at our community college for the nursing program. It's definitely a tough decision as to whether or not you want to spend the $130 before knowing for sure if you will be accepted to the nursing program. Maybe you can compare your stats to the acceptance stats of the last couple years to help with your decision. Best of luck!

Oh WOW!... I think I'll pass. Let me guess, you guys aren't refunded the $130 fee either, right?

I can't be certain if they would refund or not, but I suppose you could call and ask.
