CSU Stanislaus ASBSN 2022

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi!

As application period for the ASBSN program at Stan State is nearing, I was hoping to get a thread going so I can talk to others interested in this program.

Anyone here applying?

I would think 95 is a score that would get in. I would think it would be a application error leading to disqualification if that is the case. But its hard to say they don't really seem to release that info.

Some stats from Ser Vang for those who were waitlisted:

Overall, in the past few years, this is how many wait-listed students we were able to admit:

Spring 2021 admission period, we were able to enroll  7 alternate students from the waitlist.

Spring 2020  admission period, we were able to enroll 4 alternate students from the waitlist.

Spring 2019 admission period, we were able to enroll 14 alternate students from the waitlist (however, we went all the way down to alternate #18, 4 students did not accept admission)

Spring 2018 admission period, we enrolled 0 students from the waitlist (all 40 original students accepted admission and remain in the program)

Thanks so much for this info! I feel like I have a slim chance but I’m holding onto that chance. ?

I'm a little late to the party but I was admitted as well! I was not really expecting this to be honest and am so excited!  I had already accepted a spot at a private university (deposits/decisions had to unfortunately be made prior to Stanislaus decisions coming out) but this program and cost are too amazing to pass up!! I can't believe it- I am absolutely switching gears! Congrats to all who got in and my fingers crossed for those on the alternate list.

The waitlist is down to #8. I just got an email from Ser this morning offering me a spot!

Is anyone else having a tough time making a decision between SMU and CSU Stan? Anyone planning on commuting from the bay?

Yay congrats! I just went through that exact decision process. SMU campus here (Sacramento) is 15 minutes away and Stanislaus is 50 minutes, which isn't too bad!  It took me a week, but I decided on Stanislaus even though I went through the entire prereq process with SMU in mind.

My deciding factor was making the drive to the campus to see if I could see myself doing the commute and then calling Ser and asked him a few questions regarding how often we are on campus and how reasonable it is to commute.  I also can't ignore the price tag and the more extensive education.  For me the $40-50k isn't worth finishing 5 months faster.  I also really look forward to taking pharmacology in my program as I know how vital that knowledge is.

BUT everyone is different.  If I didn't intend on pursuing a masters or doctorate in the future (want to save $$), had children (can afford more time commuting/being gone), or had worked in the medical field for more than a year (would have a better working knowledge of pharmacology/pathophysiology) SMU would probably have been my decision.

Remember to take a moment and realize how amazing it is you were accepted in two great programs!!! Have a glass of cider or champagne and celebrate yourself!

Curious, what did he say about how often we will be on campus, I am also commuting about an hour as of now.

Including clinicals it’s 2-4 days weekly, and potentially less if instructors schedule classes on the same day ?

That’s very reassuring!
