Hi Abigail! My name is Samantha and I have been trying to get more insight about this program. Unfortunately, I am not applying to Cohort 7, but I am looking to apply to Cohort 8 since I still need to finish a few more classes. If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats & teas score? I want to get an idea of where I stand in order to determine what other schools I should consider applying to. Are you applying to any other schools?
Good luck on your app!! :)
Thanks for replying! I graduated with a 3.5 overall GPA with a BA in psychology. Pre req GPA for science is 4.0 and non science is 3.0 (mistakes from first year in college) lol. My TEAS score is an 89.3. The healthcare experience I have is 4 years being a caregiver for several clients. I believe my overall points are 88. I am also applying to UCSF's MEPN program for Adult-Gerontology. Those are the only two schools for now. How about you??
Nice stats! My overall GPA so far should be above 3.30 if all goes well with my science courses. I have a BS in Health Education and a Master's in Health Care Administration. Non-science GPA is 3.55 due to mistakes in undergrad as well. I am aiming for a high score on the TEAS. Any tips for that? For healthcare experience, I'm currently enrolled in a CNA course & plan to work as one to gain experience.
UCSF is a great school! My friend is currently in the program and it looks like she is enjoying it. In addition, I plan to apply to CSU East Bay, MJC, Delta College, and UC Davis MEPN program :)
As far as the TEAS go, I would not rely on just one source for studying. I personally thought that the ETS book and practice exam would be enough, while very helpful, I didn't feel totally prepared. I ended up buying the Mometrix book a couple of weeks before my exam which had more practice questions. I also downloaded a TEAS app on my iPhone so I could do practice questions away from home. I would say to find and complete as many practice exams as possible and time yourself. The ETS practice exams were amazing but I believe you only get 2. The Mometrix book was way more helpful than the ETS, as it was more detailed. I spent about a 3 weeks studying 3-4 hours per day and scored an 89.3 on the actual exam. I was scoring around 85 on the ETS practice exams. I hope that helps :)
@Janet11 Were you a previous Stan student? My application status on mycsustan updated to "complete". I am just wondering who else has an application status.
@CED10 Would you mind sharing your estimated overall points? I read in previous threads that 80's range and up is pretty solid, but you never know how competitive this upcoming cohort will be. I attended an information session and they said that mid 70's is also pretty competitive. Staying hopeful!
Sure, I think I am high 80's. My TEAS was 90. I am just not sure exactly which classes go into each gpa calculation but for the 4 science pre reqs I have an A, A, A-, B+. I am not bilingual and I do not have healthcare experience. I graduated from the CSU system. From what I've heard in prior years a 70 or so is a solid score.

Hello everybody! My name is Abigail and I am applying to the ASBSN program for Cohort 7. I would love for this to be a place for applicants such as myself to ask/answer questions, as the deadline is approaching. I hope to hear back from other applicants!
