CSU Dominguez Hills Online RN to BSN

Published

I was just wondering if anyone has information about CSU Dominguez Hills, which is located in Carson, CA. I'm looking into getting my BSN soon, I currently have an ADN. I just graduated this year and just started my first job as an RN in San Francisco so I want some flexibility. How do the clinicals work, if any? Can I go through my employer with that? Lastly, any experiences or thoughts about CSU Dominguez Hills??? Thanks! :D

I too would like to get an update from anyone currently at CSUDH or just recently graduated from their online RN-BSN program. How hard are the classes? Did you go full time? How long did it take you to get thru the program? Thanks for any info. :)

Hi

I started taking classes at csudh for rn-bsn in 2006-2007. I took a break and now am readmitted and hope to finish in three semesters. the first two semesters I took one class, then three. I worked full time. I did fine with it but probably could have put more effort in it. I found it a little difficult to do both work and school but that is just me. My grades were good.

Now I have a husband and family so I bet it will be really difficult this time, haha.

Classes for summer session start may 29 and I am all registered and just waiting.

I'm actually looking for anyone else in the program that may have tested out of history 101(US History). I would like to know what books they studied/can recommend.

Good luck to all of you looking for schools.

Thanks for any replies regarding the us history test.

Hi Suzy, I am interested but havent applied yet...am still working on Statistics.. I have question about testing out 2 or 3 classes. have you done those? how does it work? my email is [email protected] Thank you. amy

Hi I am actually trying to find out info about testing out of classes too. Specifically history 101. What are you looking to test out of? I will try to help if I can.

I still need to double check if my statistics class will be accepted. Not sure.

When are you thinking of applying?

Hello everyone! Trying to get some more information regarding this program. Congrats to all who got accepted! I hope to start this fall, or even try to enroll for summer...but I need some major advisement on how to go about it all. Has anyone met with the advisement staff? I've had bad experiences in the past (with college/department advisement in general, not CSUDH) and don't have much faith in seeking help from them. If anyone can recommend someone, please reply back to this thread!

Thanks so much!

Hi Lorazepam

I have been in touch with multiple people at csudh and it has been challenging at times to get my questions answered. I have to say though that I did end up getting in touch with people who were responsive but it did take alot of phone calls/emails on my part. I think with the budget cuts and amount of people they need to serve they are perhaps overwhelmed. I also feel like I did not always receive the answers to my actual questions as much as I would have liked which meant I needed to call again, or write another email which involved waiting for a response when I really just needed a quick answer to something. KWIM?

That being said, the people in the program for professional studies which includes nursing are very helpful but cannot answer general education questions. The people in general education advising do walk in appointments and cannot help you by telephone which was extremely frustrating for me as I live in Northern Ca and could not "drop in" lol. There is a person in general advising dedicated to the nursing program and she is very helpful.

Also I have to say the more I referred back to the website I did find some answers to my questions on my own.

What information were you looking for? I am by no means an expert but since I was just looking for my own info I maybe able to steer you in the right direction.

Good Luck!

Wow! Thank you so much for your feedback! Yeah, right now, I've been doing more searching on the website and found some e-mail addresses that were no longer in service, but the ones that I did e-mail, they responded in a timely manner, EVEN ADMINISTRATION! When I asked if they got my transcripts.

Right now, I registered for BSN 302 for Summer, but Toropay doesn't want to take my money! lol. I sent an e-mail to their helpdesk about the online payment system, but no reply yet. After I registered for BSN 302, I went to check the blackboard, and that wasn't working either, but again, I sent an e-mail to the helpdesk and after they looked at it, I had access. For anyone else reading this, use the helpdesk ticket system! It works :) I work in Information Systems right now, so yes, it will get answered! Suzyq36, I'm going to add you as a friend. Keep me updated on the progress of your degree! Oh...another question that just popped in my head right now. Do you plan on challenging some of the courses? Like Health Care Diversity or Pathophysiology? I thought about challenging it, but I wanted to get more feedback/impressions from others who may have gone that route? Thanks in advance!

I was looking at this program but recently many new grad programs and military programs have stated specifically that they will not accept ANY online programs for RN-BSN. Bummer.

Okay! I'm officially starting this fall as well, BSN 302 and 306 (it's a testing section). Lorazepam, if you don't mind how is BSN 302? Any feedback? This is my first online class experience, I would've registered for more classes but I kind of want to "test out the water first." I'm kind of nervous and excited at the same time haha.

ANYONE taking this online program as well?

actually, i'm starting my program this fall as well, 302 & 306 i believe. i'm going to orientation next thursday, if you have any questions you'd like me to ask, let me know! i'm probably going to ask about how to challenge the courses. good luck for fall!

Omg lorazepam, I am going to orientation next thursday too!! Maybe I'll see you lol I can't believe you're taking the same courses I do, lucky. I don't feel so alone here!

Cool! I won't know anybody there, so say hi please! :)
