yup, just done the drug test...and tom for shots, and getting some record for some shots, and still cant register..carol said it takes some time for the registrar to input our names..... amazing right now.... maybe later stresssssssssssssss........... i hope to meet you all....jan 6 it is!!!!!!!
The TB test can be 7 days apart if you are not doing the 1st one with any other vaccines. if it's just the TB test, then yes, 7 days.
You don't really need the labcoat if you don't want to buy it. I've never used mine yet. You may need it for later semesters though. You can buy a patch for it at the bookstore. I got all of my supplies at Scrubtastic on Rainbow/Pampart. all we used for first semester this time was our stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, watch, pen light, scissors, and of course the uniform. I would suggest buying 1 or 2 extra name tags too. Keep one in your car, your back pack and on you. You always need it! I have 4, one in my bag, one in each car and one on my uniform. You can get them from the bookstore also. Oh, and I would suggest that one of the extra ones having just a last initial, will come in handy for 243!
Thanks Sunshine! So nice of you to help us out here. Would you suggest taking the toolbox class? Is it for both weeks prior to school? I feel like I am pretty quick at learning math, so I'm debating whether to spend the extra money on it...
Also, for the CPR.. it would be smart to sign up for a class after Dec. 16th, right? And lastly, the ATI test we have to pay for, is that the same as the CARP test?
I took the toolbox class, and it really helps! It's not only math, but how to do care plans too, which you will have to learn! Math is not my best subject, so the refresher is nice. I will be sitting in on the 115 math!
For CPR, yes, I would wait till after the 16th as well. You want as much stuff that expires done after the 16th so it carries you through that second semester.
I am not sure what a CARP test is. The first ATI test you take is a critical thinking assessment. You will also take one towards the end of the semester to see how you are retaining the info you are learning.
I think it's all relative. It's difficult, but spending time reading and studying helps. Now I do not read every single word the say to read. I skim a lot and when I am studying for my tests I read through the power points and have my books to double check what I don't understand. I also do the NCLEX questions on Evolve and in the back of the chapters. I also get together with a classmate before tests and study. I would suggest no more than 3 or 4 to a study group. Note cards work well if that's your thing. The most I have missed on a test is 3 questions. The tests are hard but not really crazy hard, you just have to know how they test, and the NCLEX practice tests help. It's so overwhelming at first, but after the first test you get the hang of it. You'll want to complain, but it's kind of pointless because they can't make it easy! Just do what they want and you'll be fine.
