  1. Got mine done through CVS as well. Made good friends with the doctor at the clinic. The only thing is that you may have to come back after scheduling an appointment. About 65 bucks, but it's useful for a year, so try to get it done, but make sure it's effective through the year.
  2. I'm working, but after the first week of exams, I decided to no longer work full-time. Those exams were brutal because of the volume of stuff that I had to endure. Would I still recommend working while in this program? Definitely not. Oh yeah, hours a week studying on avg. is 3-9hrs total, so I must get more study time in. It's imperative that I study more!
  3. hemostats are those little clamps that resemble scissors. Basically its used to grab items without your physical contact - ideal for wound dressing changes. I'm not sure if we would need those on the first day..... I think that they would be needed in the middle of the semester. All we would be doing are bed transfers to wheelchairs, changing pt. position in beds, washing hands, using a hydraulic lift, etc. none of these would require the hemostats, much less the stethescopes. Anyone have ideas on this? Are the upcoming clinical-on-campus sessions going to really require all of the equipment?
  4. judging from the authorization to release form in the packet, there is a line that says "clinical affiliation requirements." maybe this is what they were referring to.....I'm not completely sure on that.
  5. It is open! But I dont really know where to begin....
  6. try listening to the bowel sounds a little after you eat as well as other sounds that are quite normal or try listening to those websites, like youtube, and compare what you get with your stethescope. I think I'll buy a new stethescope and shoes once the true clinicals begin in Feb. As for now, I'll use my hand-me-downs! As for heartbeats ,lub-dub is what you should get. The lub (lighter sound) signifies your systole while the dub (bump, heavier sound) signifies the diastole. There should normally be a pause in between heartbeats. Abnormal ones are possible too. NURS 285 is starting tomorrow. Hopefully this is no surprise to anyone.
  7. I didn't drop out. But, I did notice that alternates were chosen. It makes me think that I should've gone to the 2nd orientation last semester.... Nothing truly exciting to talk about. The results from the ati test didn't excite me. I'm not sure if that particular test helped me. Anyone else have any ideas after taking this exam? Did it help you? I did forget to sign up for my advisement appointment for the 19th.......Is it possible to sign up by phone? And is there a deadline to sign up?
  8. The mandatory meeting is tomorrow. Everyone aboard?
  9. you might not want to put names up on these threads... also, I'm not certain as to how the uniform should be. I'll wait till the 6th in Jan. to figure that out.
  10. It should be the final exam week in december! I will also buy the textbook bundle...when it becomes on stock. When would that be?
  11. unless your registration date has passed (it should say it on the right hand side of myCSN), I'd call up the nsg department to get it cleared up.
  12. Congrats to all alternates accepted! Get some rest. Get those shots and papers together. SEE YOU ALL ON JAN 6! Yay!
  13. I hope all of you get in. If they are thinking of accepting all alternates, then that's amazing news! I wish they gave my group of alternates a chance or even held some kind of a dept. meeting. Oh well..... Good luck!
  14. Well, for everyone who is still having trouble registering, try calling up the Nursing department today. I finally received got the courses that I desired.
