Hi Everyone!
I am new to the site and will be applying to CSN's RN program in March. I wanted to start a thread and see who will be applying with me and how things are coming along for everyone. :) I have all pre-reqs completed with a pre-req GPA of 3.58. I took the TEAS about a month ago and I passed, but wasn't thrilled with my score, particularly in science. I got an adjusted individual total score of 74.7%. Reading: 92.9%, Math 70%, Science 60.4%, and English & Language Usage: 76.7%. I barely passed the science portion and have signed up to take the TEAS one more time in February. With my current TEAS score, I have a total of 29 points for my application. I'm really hoping to get a better score and another point or two from the second TEAS!
Please let me know if you'll be applying in this cycle. I'd love to exchange advice and information and just connect with *hopefully* some future classmates! :)
Also wanted to comment on the "rumors"... Being a hospital employee, I KNOW that the nurse managers PREFER csn students! Even the CNAs do (myself included). Csn students work harder than ANY nursing students I've seen. The fact that csn has cracked down speaks wonders for the program.
Just a tip to my fellow nursing students: when you are in clinicals, do not be caught sitting down! I constantly see UNLV & Touro students SITTING!! This makes CNAs & nurses not want to help you. Since we are at CSN, I don't think this will be a problem.. But wanted to throw it out there! The other day, I had a student come up to me and tell me to find her when I did a bed bath so that she could do a skin assessment. She was chatting with her friends when I was ready to do it. Do you think I went and told her? **** No!
I picked mine up earlier. Based on the sign in sheets I, (and I don't know how many names per sheet). There were 4 pages for full time, and two pages for part time. There were also 2 pages for the alternates, but the second one wasn't full. I know my "assessment" is rather arbitrary. I didn't ask how many were selected for each program. I did over hear ---- saying that they won't know for sure how many alternates they are taking until after next Friday's orientation. Believe it or not, people don't show up for it.
