I am a good nurse. I really am. I am older than 50 years old but can keep up physically with anyone on the floor. I never sit down and do nothing if there is work to do.

I look to help others. I have passed many exams that others find difficult.

I work hard for the hospital and have a work ethics mentality.

My hospital has tried to adopt a zero tolerance for bullying, gossip and meanness and has implemented a character program.

The problem is that there is a type of girl attracted to our profession that loves to bully others, gossip, build a case out of nothing. These people will find a way to bully and they found one that the hospital agrees to and that is writing a person up.

So...I have been written up 3 times in the last few months over things that are false accusations. I know there are always things that I can improve on and I do listen to what is being said and think about those things but I can assure you that when I try to compensate and do things differently, everyone thinks I'm not doing things the way everyone else is.

It leaves me very confused. And I don't know what to do about it. I want to retaliate just to explain how these things are untrue because I hate having these mars on my reputations that are completely and utterly unwarranted.

My supervisors do not take these things seriously and have not done anything about it. At first they did until they realized what was going on. They know what kind of nurse I am. But it still bothers me that this continues to happen.

Plus, I feel like it is the kind of thing that could potentially look bad in the event that something does come up like a patient who is unhappy. It makes it look like I am a problem child and I hate that.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I have my rationale for wondering if this is not a conspiracy of mean nurses because of my age and because I am not a party animal and because I had to talk to my supervisors early on about a nurse who was not willing to answer my questions when she was in charge. I told them I didn't want to get her in trouble but....

When a nurse is coming against you what do you do? What works?

I took it to my manager first. I told her that I wanted to talk in front of her with Nurse X. No way was I going to do it alone.

So your mangers aren't putting these write ups in your record? If they are, do you have a union you can take this to?

Whatever you do, don't sign the write-ups!
