Hai there,

Can anybody tell me if the program offered at Crouse's is ASN or ADN? I am planning to apply to it as i find it a little inexpensive. Am I right?

It is a ADN/ASN program. ADN is associate's degree in nuring and ASN is associate's degree of applied science of nursing...which basically is the same thing

Anyone going to Crouse know the uniform? Is it all white with Crouse patches? Do you have to get them at the recommended store?

The uniform is navy blue scrub top and bottoms by Landau with embroidered "Crouse Hospital School of Nursing" on the left side upper chest. The scrub styles are specific and only 2 choices for tops and I think 3 for bottoms. You can call the school for specific style numbers or they also have the info at Bayberry Uniform in Syracuse. Most students purchase at Bayberry and they send them out in bulk for embroidery. Hope this helps!

The reason I ask is because I'm a larger guy and I wanted to get it done myself. Navy blue? what color is the embroidery? One or two lines? Thanks so much for your help!

ok, to get specific, the embroidery is 2 lines and looks like this:

[color=lemonchiffon][color=gray]crouse hospital

school of nursing

except that "crouse" is actually embroidered in white and remember the logo is against a navy blue background. it looks nice and i think better than a patch.

if you want to special order your uniform i bet you could take in your scrub top to bayberry and they can send it in for embroidery for a small fee. when do you start the program?

AHH... I year ago I was in your shoes! I was also a nervous wreck to start the program, heck I think all the students are. Your EMT and ER experience is a definite advantage, as the program is very fast paced so your level of comfort in the clinical environment will be an asset.

Best of Luck in the program, work hard, and you'll succeed.

Thanks for your help. Start in Tminus 4 days.. Do you need your textbooks the first week? Uniforms? I have'nt prepared any of that, hoping that they'll guide us with some of that stuff during orientation. Also don't want to look like the person whose over prepared lol Also What's the camraderie like? I just moved into Syracuse and I'm getting really bored lol. Does the class study together or hang out together?

Textbooks first week... definitely! You do not want to get behind, trust me. You won't need uniforms until the 3rd or 4th week of class.

I really don't think there is any such thing as being overprepared, unless you go out and purchase lots of things you don't need.

The camraderie is more or less whatever you make it to be. Some students make friends and form support groups of sorts while others do their own thing. In my class there are about 5 or 6 of us who pal around together, sit together, etc. Some students do form study groups and hand out, but there isn't alot of time for things outside of school and ffamily, esp. if you work.

I am not from the area so I don't know much about what Syracuse has to offer. Don't worry to much about being bored b/c that's about to change very soon! :hngon:

Thanks for the help. First week isn't bad, it's overwhelming though.. I feel like alot of people are being negative about it all. The only person who is real positive is the 110 teacher. But I suppose that's they're way of making us work hard. I'm just worried about test structures right now. I guess we'll have to wait till our first tests to judge!

I respectfully disagree. I am a Crouse grad and I am very satisfied with my education. I researched both schools extensively prior to enrollment and I feel they are the best nursing school in the area. :)
