Cross Country or Banner Health input

Published

Any advice for first time traveler? (Like the ten biggest mistakes first time travelers make!!) Considering job offer through Cross Country with Banner Desert in Mesa Arizona. Any red flags for anyone with either Cross Country or Banner? Thanks for help. Also, was hoping to get by without car. Mistake?

Banner Health facility is quite nice...........it is almost impossible to be without a car there, things are so spread out...............unless you are planning to ride a bicycle. And walking home or to work when it is dark is not a good thing there.

Definitely suggest a car..............

I did a travel assignment at North Colorado Medical Center which is a Banner facility and I was very pleased with this organization.

HI, I traveled with Banner Health at Banner Baywood in Mesa, AZ, it was a great experience and the peole were very nice and Banner Travel offered me better than I got from another agency, might want to check them out, let me know by Private Message here, if you need a contact. We can then exchange more information from there.

I am not familiar with the Banner facilites, but i do know something about CrossCountry. I would advise you to stay as far away from them and any of their affiliate companies as possible. They are not there for their nurses, their pay rates are VERY inferior to most other companies, and housing is normally shared. I have worked several places with travellers from CrossCountry AND AmericanMobile and was typically getting about $10/hr more with private housing and rental car. Take my advice, look elsewhere. Consider OnAssignment or even Fastaff, another one is PRCS Staffing, they even give you a Mercedes as your rental car and normally pay $35/hr. Take it or leave it, just my 2 cents.

Beware. I had my first travel assignment and when the hospital canceled me without cause I was forced to leave my apt. in 48 hrs. and they expected me to pay for future housing costs.

Banner Health also has their own travel company if you want to work here and have concerns about Cross Country. Check out their website.

I have had no experience with this hospital but have nothing good to say about Cross Country Travel, please research them carefully before you sign up with them. They generally pay less, do not have free private housing and are not there when you need them. After travelling with them for 6 months they called me and asked if I would be interested in taking a first assignment with them! They didn't even know I was currently traveling with the. When I had problems with the hospital I was at they would not return my calls. I had 5 or 6 recruiters in 8 months and had to resend all my infor over and over again (that alone should have told me to stay away in the first place!!).
