What kind of CRNP specialty are you interested in?
There are a lot of online CRNP programs out there-
Drexel University has Women's Health and Acute Care online.
Duke, University of Alabama, and Thomas Jefferson all have online programs in a variety of specialties.
Where do you live? I have applied to Jefferson and UDel- both online or with online components.
I have also been accepted to Salisbury University's FNP program, which is not online, but is significantly cheaper.
Hope this helps... I'm interested to hear more about what you want out of the program (price, specialty, online versus online components... ect)
Thanks!

Try searching the NP forum, or grad student forums rather than the MD forum. There are several posts listing online NP prorams.

I am very interested in Acute Care or Family Practice. I have worked 5 years in ICU, one year Clinical Nursing Instructor (current), and worked with a Cosmetic Surgeon for 10 years, still current. I started working toward a MSN in CRNA, then purchased a home that was three hours away from the University. I prefer online only. I live in MD and want to find an accredited program online. Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, I posted there too.
If you don't mind me asking, what part of MD do you live? Western MD, mid near baltimore, or the Eastern shore?
That might make a difference to where you would want to apply-because, although most online programs do require some on campus residency days, ect...
Thomas Jefferson is completely online and has acute and family.
Drexel University is online for acute, but I do think there is a campus visit requirement twice during the program.
Alot of the big name schools, like DUKE, UMass, University of Arizona, University of Alabama, ect have online programs that only require campus visits a few times during the program. I have found that, while alot of these schools are my dreamweavers, the cost of tuition is more than triple the cost of going to school in state (Maryland).
I could go on forever about this topic... I have done a LOT of research this past year on it... so if there is a specific question you have, I'd be glad to help if I can...

I reside in Southern Maryland near Leonardtown, MD. I received an Associates Degree in Biological Sciences at CCCC, then an Associates Degree in Nursing at CSM, and my BSN at University of Maryland School of Nursing. It took me 3 hours to get to Baltimore and this is why I am looking for an online degree. I actually completed my BSN mostly online and loved it. I graduated with Honors at Baltimore and I feel that online works best for me. I can wake up and jump online when I feel fresh and ready to go. If I need that nap I can take it and hop right back on afterwards. And I don't have the stress of a long commute. Ugh!
I am very thankful for your information. I am going to take a look at all the schools you mentioned, TJ seems better because of it all being online. I thought about PA school as well, but the schools are too far and I like the personal touch that NP provide. Thanks again for everything. I am sure I will be in touch with more questions.
Money is a big part in the decision I make as well. As long as it is accredited and the program is good I am okay with that. Baltimore SON was an excellent school, but the commute is too much for me.
I felt the exact same way... i would love to go to UMD, but I live on the Eastern Shore, and it would take at least 2 hours (if no traffic) to get to baltimore. That is why I'm leaning towards Salisbury. Salisbury is not online, but it's only 3 evenings a week, and close to my house.
I really like TJ's program, as well as UDel. Udel is almost all online. I am still waiting to hear from them for the Fall.
I did my RN to BSN online through Stevenson University, and I LOVED IT. I really think online is the way to go. I will miss that if decide to go to Salisbury.
Lets see, other programs that i have found that are online (check their websites to make sure because I made this list last year and things may have changed)
Wright State University FNP online
Frontier School of Nursing FNP online with a campus visit
Vanderbilt in TN--- very expensive
University of TN health science center
George Washington in DC (I forget if this is all online or just some online)
University of Kentucky
in alll honesty if you think of somewhere you might want to go, just check their website... most schools are offering at least some of their programs online...
Since you live in Leonardtown, you might want to check on VA schools too. I think Old Dominion has online programs, ect.
Good luck!

NurseKJ, Hi I am starting Stevenson's RN to BSN program in January and saw that you graduated from there. I was just curious if you give me some pointers or an overview of what you went through and what I should look out for. I have never done an online course, but I am enrolled to do the online program, so hopefully it will work out well for me. I appreciate any guidance you can give me. Thanks.
hello! congrats on starting your BSN. The best advice I can give, is to make sure you have a good internet connection, a decent computer, and microsoft office. If you don't have office, you can buy it at the stevenson bookstore at a student discount.
I would recommend that you buy all the books as well. I found that when my classes are face to face, i don't really use my texts; however, with online classes, a lot of the work that you hand in and the papers you write have to have quotes and references from the texts.
When you write your papers, and there are a lot of them, make sure you use the bibliography tool in the office program, and save it throughout your classes... it comes in really handy, and once you start referencing works you will understand what i mean.
Make sure you log on to blackboard (the online website that has the classes/discussion board on it) everyday. You technically don't have to, but the website keeps track of how often you are on and it can really build up your class participation. Also, post more than you have to on the discussion boards... You'll understand what i mean when you start.
If you have any specific questions, please ask...
Thank you so much for the info......Ugh however I was hoping you wouldn't say there were a lot of papers!! Do you mind if I ask the average length of the papers? I was told that I can buy the books online through the school bookstore for each class. I do have office, just bought it 2 weeks ago actually, I'm glad it will come in handy. I was told there is a clinical component for one of the classes, how does that work if I'm not in the local area? I really do appreciate the help with all of this, Im starting to get stressed out when I think about all of it!!
