CRNA School as Military Spouse

Hello! I am looking for any advice--the good and the bad--of being a military spouse (army) and pursuing CRNA school.

I am looking to apply to schools next year. If you were a military spouse and went to school or are in school, how did you do it? What was it like? How did you decide where to apply? Did you end up being long-distance any or all of the time? How did your marriage survive? Help ?

I want to know what we could be getting ourselves into. Thank you!!

How encouraging ? lol

I am a military spouse and currently starting CRNA right now in NC. My husband is active duty Army. Going in it all, I just made sure that we were both on the same page about what going back to school would mean and the sacrifices we both would be making. We both knew that distance could have been an issue and were willing to live separately if it came to that. I applied to schools within a 4 hour radius of where we live, that way if we had to live apart, it wouldn’t be too much of a hassle to see each other. I got lucky to have gotten into a school that is only 1 hour away. So I do commute back and forth. Another factor that comes into play for me, is that my husband is going to be deployed a lot of the time I’ll be in school. So we’re both planning on using that time to focus on our careers. Having all of this in mind beforehand definitely helped with us feel pretty equipped to take on these next three years.

Hi! Thank you so much for replying. He’s known about me possibly wanting to do this very early on when we were dating, he’d rather I do it when he’s deploying too! Sounds like we have very similar thinking. I’ve also been looking at the radius thing. I’m only applying to two schools this cycle to see where I’m at. I just had my 2 years experience in June. I’d love to pick your brain more some time!
