CRNA School? Is it feasable with a family?

Published

I've been toying around with going back to school to become a CRNA. My wife and I had a child a month ago and I would hate to miss out on the first couple years of her life because of school. How feasable is it to have a family and go back to school to become a CRNA?

Thanks

Well, its only been two months but here's my take. This depends on a few factors, #1 your study habits/personal abilities, #2 your program (talk to students in the progams you are thinking of applying to...they really vary in regards to class structure and time commitment) #3 your family support.

We are starting to get very busy in my program (3 tests next week), but it is NOT overwhelming. I haven't missed a kid's practice or game and still help my kids with homework and play ball. (this will completely change next year, though, bc I will have to commute for clinical) I do have great support and am a strong student, but it really is individual. Evaluate your personal strengths/support system/programs. If it's a good time for you and your family and you are all up for it...GO FOR IT. "Fortune favors the prepared mind" Louis Pasteur...
