Hello guys,
I am hoping someone can give me their opinion based on their experience or knowledge. I am trying to apply to CRNA and hoping to start Fall 2018 if accepted. My big question is, what are my chances of getting in with PICU level 1 with patients ranging from infants to about 19 years old, of which these are treated as adults even though admitted to PICU. I also have Adult ED Level 1 trauma experience? I know some schools consider PICU and some don't. Should I go and get adult ICU experience first to be competitive or it's a misconception that PICU is not good enough? Thanks in advance for your input.

There is a Pre-CRNA Student forum, FYI!
I purposely decided not to work PICU for that reason; it seemed too risky. If you find a school that accepts PICU experience, great! But I felt it was too risky and wasn't worth the potential pay off. And not that your ED experience isn't valid, but I don't think I've seen any CRNA school that considers it to be useful experience for CRNA for some reason.
I'd say apply and see how it goes, but it definitely seems tougher. I haven't seen or heard of too many CRNA students with solely PICU experience. Most seem to come from SICUs and CVICUs.
