CRNA Application for Barry May 2022 Cohort

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Is anyone planning on applying for this cohort. I am trying to add the program in my nursing Cas and Barry is not showing up. Any ideas?

Called today (may be a bit persistent but I have people writing my recommendations that are asking me when I'm sending the link) and was told the person who handles NursingCAS was notified yesterday and she will be told again today. I was hoping they would say how long it usually takes to fix the situation ?

Where did you submit your personal statement?

There wasn’t a place to upload it, assuming they still have some issues with the app. I’ll fax it or email it to the department once my application has been fully verified. Plus Barry is really good at communicating missing portions of a profile.

Side note- once you create a Barry account you can upload application documents.

They adjusted the application on nursingCAS to include the personal statement now. I just applied yesterday! Applications are open pretty long (till Nov). Do you all know if they wait till applications close to start interviews?

They interview and accept students on a rolling basis until seats are full.

I’m assuming it’s too soon to start interviews. Has anyone heard otherwise?

I spoke to someone at the school last week who said she had not started looking at the May 2022 cohort yet.

Hi, I am currently a new grad working in the neuro ICU at UK hospital. I am working on my BSN and will be done in December of 2021. I am planning on taking the GRE in June, will have my ACLS and PALS by July and will be able to take my CCRN in February of 2022. Do I have any chance of getting into the May 2022 cohort if I explain that I will have all of these things done by the program start date? Just wanting to know what my chances are. I have a decent GPA (3.3 in nursing classes) and made B's in my prerequisite classes. Any info/recommendations?

I know that CCRN can wait till after application but doubt that they will wait for all the stuff. If it were me personally, I would rather wait till everything is done and apply the next year.

So November 1st is technically when everything is due.. the only things that will be missing are verification of completing my BSN which will be done by mid December, and then sitting for my CCRN in February. My main concern more or less is whether they consider new grad RNs the year after they graduate from nursing school. I started working in the Neuro ICU almost immediately after I graduated in December 2020 and would have roughly 15 months ICU experience by May 2022, but whether that’s enough is my biggest fear. The thing is, I’ve known becoming a CRNA has been my end goal since before I started nursing school and so I’m at a point in life where I don’t want to waste time and I just want to get into grad school as quickly as possible.
