Madonna University has just started using the critical thinking instead of the TEAS I was just nervous what was on the Critical thinking? I've looked everywhere and cant find anything on it. Everyone that has taken it doesn't know how to describe it so how am I supposed to know what to do?
hmm - actually, there IS evidence that the ability to critically think/reason is an inherent cognitive ability. A quick Google on the subject will bring up a LOT of references. There is also general agreement that critical thinking can also be developed/improved. But it can't really be "taught" in itself. We can help you acquire skills that enhance your CT abilities, but it is up to you to actually practice and apply the skills. I know, circular logic...
So, what does critical thinking look like? It means never taking things at face value... whether it's a slick sales pitch for that new car or a bombastic politician making outrageous claims about his expertise and ability (he he he). CT'ers rely on facts and empirical evidence. They are skeptics. They don't "assume" and jump to conclusions. They test their assumptions and keep an open mind rather than filtering information so suit their own world views (e.g., that must be true because it is what I believe). It takes a lot more effort to be a CT'er than simply accept everything people tell you. It can also be disconcerting because the ultimate in CT is being absolutely sure that you can never be absolutely sure.
Sorry, I love this topic so I tend to wobble off on a bit of a ramble

Hello there,
I am taking the ATI critical thinking exam this week and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on what the questions would be like etc? I like to think I'm a good critical thinker but if theres any way to prepare I would like to.
Thank you so much!
