Hello, I am Australian but not in Melbourne. It seems like ICUs are very different here, but I think for the better. 1:1 ratios for ventilated patients and closed ICUs with intensive care specialists. :)

Melbourne is my hometown. I was born and raised there. I live in the USA now. My parents are still there. You are gonna love it!!! Aussies just LOVE Americans. Plus it's a fabulous lifestyle. The standard of living is higher too. Your money goes further.

You will make some awesome friends. Aussies are very loyal!! All the best!

Why are vented patients just 1:1 ICU in Australia?

Specializes in ICU.

No respiratory therapists and for safety reasons.

Thank you LG1137, really looking forward to it :)

Hi I have been thinking of it too. Excited for you. Wish you the best luck. And I am going to look forward to read your stories!

I'm a Surgical Truama ICU RN from TX looking to move to Australia and work as a nurse. How did you go about the process? Did you go through a nursing agency? I'm nervous but very excited to start on this potential journey. Congratulations on your future move to Aus!!!

hi its great to hear other nurses in the same process as I am. I have a BSN with 5years of step down ICU and looking to relocate to Australia. I have the inprinciple registration and have to appear in person by April 2016. I am wondering if I can go through the skill select prefarably/ permanent visa through an agency with this inprinciple approval. Any advice on visa process and jobs placement is greatly appreciated.
