Florida Hospitals Hiring New Grads

Specialties Critical

Hi! I was wondering if you all know of any hospitals in Florida that hire new grad nurses? I will graduate with my BSN this May from UF.

Specializes in Critical Care.

Have you tried looking? Florida Hospital hires waves of new GNs every couple of months it seems. Orlando Health is hiring additionally, given their current condition.

They hire in waves 3-4 times a year depending on the campus. The next time they are hiring in which you'll be eligible is for the June start date. Therefore, I'd check their website in May. You apply to a general GN app and then list your preferences of speciality from 1-8 I believe. It seems like they tended to hire folks who completed their clinicals at their hospital or worked as a tech but that is not to say they wouldn't hire a graduate from another reputable school like UF. Also, they hire A LOT of GNs across their 8 campuses so I'd apply as soon as the app is made available. I worked for them as a tech and as a GN and have loved my experience with them thus far!

Thank you so much! So far I've contacted The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville (still waiting for a call back). I've spoken with a few nurse managers at UF Health (Shands) and they do hire new grads, but I've been in Gainesville for 4 years now and am looking for a change in scenery (although I do love it there)! I am very interested in Tampa. I've heard that Tampa General has a critical care nurse internship, but I'm unable to find any information about the internship on their website. I will definitely look out for Florida Hospital when I get closer to graduation.

Specializes in ICU.

Glad you have a BSN; I understand most hospitals in Florida now require it.
