Hey nurses,
I saw medical staff have a sense of creativity.
what do think we should have to enhance our creativity in nursing practice. ????
Creativity of the medical staff? No offense to them, but I just don't see it. They come on the floor, write orders, and the rest is up to nursing. The first thing that comes to mind where nurses are creative is of course, my most recent experience. A coworker caring for a particularly active "jumper" last week put the pt in a patient-appropriate chair next to a very understanding and wonderful HUC, and gave him some "work" that needed to be done in the form of connect the dots games. He put a lot of work into these games, and she didn't let him get burned out on them by expecting him to do them for hours. Some of us would also sit with him to make things interesting and to keep the HUC from burning out, and we'd help him with his puzzles and include him in our conversations. She alternated this with other activities, and he was kept safe and virtually bed alarm free.
