Creative Arts Therapist/RN?

I have one more year left to finish my BSN (after which, of course, I will hopefully be an RN!). I switched into nursing from educational theatre. I was looking over my coursework and found that, with all of the psychology credits from nursing and the theatre credits from my previous major, I could complete a Master's in Drama Therapy in one year, which would lead to licensing as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist.

Is anyone here an RN/LCAT? Or know someone who is? I'm trying to find out what kind of career options would be available to me on this path...

Thanks in advance!

Hi jackattack21!

I don't have any degree in expressive therapies or counseling but am also interested. I thought I would respond and see if you have found any programs. I have a B.A. in studio art and am currently working as an RN. I am looking for a grad program in expressive therapy but can not find anything with distance options. Let me know what information you find for your theater arts program. Good luck. I will share anything I find also.

I've been in psych nursing for 25 years (and was a music and drama major my first time in college), and I've known some great psych nurses and some great art or music therapists, but I've never encountered anyone who (or any job that) combined the roles. In my experience, people are one or the other but not both.
