CPR-HCP or BCLS

My BLS is expired and planning to go for certification. Is there any difference between BLS and CPR-HCP? I am just wondering because I have seen hospitals here ask for BCLS. And it is necessary to do standard or emergency first aid with the these certifications? I will appreciate your response.

ien.P, since Ottawa doesn't have heartandstroke courses, take the red cross health care provider course, as long as you take a health care provider course, employers will accept it.

My employer is asking for CPR and first aid. I am an RPN but these requirements are for PSW position that I am intending to take. My questions are:

1. When I check for red cross's courses, I get 2 options; one says emergency first aid and CPR- class C or HCP and the other one says standard first aid and CPR -class c or HCP. Which one should I take?

2. Will these certification be valid when I get a RPN position

If a PSW wants first aid, they probably want standard first aid.
