CPR Class info needed

Published

I will be starting an ADN program this fall and I am a bit nervous about the CPR class that I am registered in. The problem is that I'm a bit overweight and getting up and down to and from the floor may be a problem for me. Has anyone here had the same problem, or will it even be a problem for me? I'm assuming that we will have to be on the floor on our knees for at least a portion of the training. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you so much so everyone for your comments. I'm so glad that I found this website. I was thinking about dropping the class and taking it later, but thanks to everyone's positive responses I've decided to go ahead and take the class, which by the way is tommorrow... I know this is going to be a physically demanding career path, but it definitely will give me the incentive to whip myself into shape;)

Hello,

I just had to resert on 8-10. CPR is something everyone should know. The reason it is performed is to bring someone back to life. I'm glad you decided to take this class as you may have regretted dropping it later in life.

Also in a real situation, your adrenalin is pumping and you may be moving like you have never moved before.

Dabuggy

Our CPR class was 4 hours long and no biggie. We watched a ton of videos and then performed the steps from the video on a dummy on a table. Then we took a test. It was pretty easy.

I just took a CPR class a few weeks ago. It wasnt bad at all. The whole class only lasted 4 hours. We did have to get on the floor, but it wasnt a bunch of moving around. We stayed down there, and did the breaths and compressions to a video. Good Luck :)

I took a CPR class and we did scenarios where we actually had to run down stairs to find an AED. We were on the floor the whole time practicing with a DVD. It was hard work and I pray that I am not alone when I have to give CPR. My knees and my hands were hurting.

No sweat but...

1.Don't wear lipstick

2.Put your hair up out of the way

I would up looking like some Insane Clown Posse reject, had the lipstick all over my face and as picking my hair out of the sticky mess.
