Be careful!! I was at Racine and all of us were assigned patient teaching. One girl had enteral feeding on a baby. Since then, I communicate with lots of people who test at Racine and all of the other areas of care have been assigned recently. One girl had a patient with a continuous bladder irrigation! I think I would have for sure fainted for that! I was assigned wound management and that was terrifying!
I was also assigned to D/C an IV. Something I BARELY looked at. I had done it thousands of times when I worked in the ER as a tech. As I went to d/c it, the CE politely said "Please remember, all protocols are in effect when removing that." I made a quick guess and said "no edema or signs of infiltration!" Wooooh! That was right!
Yup! Lots of little things I didn't pick up in the study guide and I swear I read that thing once a week throughout my entire preparation!
I heard in the SPAC that irrigation and drainage hasn't been assigned in over a year. That's from the students who go to that retired CE for personal tutoring

I have been working on my critical elements for all AOCs for the CPNE. For some reason, I've been avoiding the other areas of care..enteral feeding, irrigation, drainage & specimen. I think I've heard these are seldom assigned..is this true, or just wishful thinking? If anyone has been assigned these, please share your story! Thank you!!!
