CPMC RN Training Program 2016

Published

Just checking to see if anyone else has applied to CPMC's RN Training Program for summer '16 / fall '16? I'm assuming that Sutter has decided to not participate in Samuel Merritt's T2P this summer/ fall as I noticed they don't have it listed on SMU's site. I was told we are to hear back from them by 6/6 with 48 positions being filled (2/3 med surg 1/3 L&D / Mom & Baby ; 24 for summer and 24 for fall). Does anyone have any info on what they are looking for? Do they prioritize local new grad students? GPA? If a student precepted at CPMC? BSN vs. ADN? Volunteer experience?

Hi tmarstaller I also received an acceptance letter to the med surg program and also received night shifts after training. Have you accepted their offer? I really wanted ED and was honest about that during my interview, I was told it's not hard to transfer in to critical care once you're in, so I'm going to go for it! Nights will definitely be a big adjustment though!! Do you start in July or October?

Sorry for the late response! I did interview on the 17th.

hi lizzz415 -- nice, congrats! i accepted, it's for july...but i need to be able to take nclex and have it processed in time, and I don't have an ATT yet, so could be tight! excited though : ) lets chat once we hear any more!

Agh, still haven't heard anything! Even though I just graduated I already feel stressed of how difficult it is to land a new grad residency in CA! Good luck to those who got in. On to the next one....

Hi all, I was also wondering how fast our ATT will arrive. If you don't mind me asking when did your school send your application to the BRN? I wonder if BRN doesn't process our applications until they receive official transcripts from the schol after graduation. Any feedback would be great! I interviewed on the 23rd at Davies and haven't heard anything back also :( I'm probably just waiting on my rejection letter since I didn't hear anything on June 6th. Congrats to those that have been offered :)

Hi Happy_Nurse26,

Most of my cohort put in our apps with the California BRN early April. Many of us received our ATTs about May 20th, and some even got their interim permits (those who requested it, at least). I got mine May 22, and I know for a fact that neither mine, nor any of my classmate's final transcripts were in with the BRN then. What lots of us did that helped speed things along was pay Pearson Vue. You see, we were told to wait until the BRN sends you that letter which tells you that you are eligible to test. I eventually got this letter about a week and half after I had already booked my ATT. If you pay your PV then they will automatically email you as soon as they hear from the BRN that you are good to go, as opposed to you waiting on the BRN to give you the go ahead to pay PV. Why would you wait for the BRN? Well, in the event that the BRN doesn't approve you then you would be out the fee you paid PV. Many of us were confident our apps would go through just fine and so we paid PV very early on.

One thing I recommend to you is to log into your account with the BRN, open up the app status, and see the date that appears on that pop-up box. I noticed that for a long time the submitted date was that of when I put my app in. However, later I noticed it change to a May date. When I called the BRN they told me that date was the date my app had been approved and that notice was sent to PV telling them of my approval. I had to give it a couple business days for PV to process the information coming from the BRN. Anywho, checking this might tell you if your app has been processed and approved faster than waiting for the approval via snail mail.

SodaBay thank you for the information it was very helpful!

Sodabay that's awesome. I applied in March and my application is still pending (I already paid Pearson in March), no ATT. Called this morning and they said it could be another 4 weeks, and they are way off the 10-12 week timeline they advertise. Hopeful it'll come soon...if anyone else who graduated this spring receives theirs, please let us know : )

I graduated back in December and waiting for ATT was such a pain! I agree with sodabay though, if your date changes you have a good chance of getting your clearance within a week. That was pretty much the consensus from my cohort. Honestly the REAL stressor is waiting for your results after the nclex. I was lucky and got my results in only 2 days but a friend of mine waited 4 weeks! So horrible!!!!! Anyway, hope you all get your clearence and then results quickly!

Good luck tmarstaller! Hope you can meet the deadline and get in the program. I'm surprised they didn't put you in the October one to give you more time, must be stressful! Hopefully once you get your ATT things move fast! Happy studying :)

I also applied really early (in FEBRUARY!) and signed up/paid PV then too. Still not ATT for me or my classmates, but apparently our school didn't send out the candidate rosters until 5/25. This wait SUCKS. :/

hi tmarstaller and lizzz415 congrats on getting in! I received an acceptance too and emailed the recruiter. Wondering if you have heard any response yet? The letter didn't say anything about which campus/unit

One of my classmates who applied to this program received a letter in the mail indicating that he was not accepted to the CPMC RN training program. So whether or not you get in you will be notified.
