Has anyone applied to school along w/ one of your fellow coworkers? How was it? Two other nurses from my unit are applying to the same schools this fall. It makes me nervous! I can't stop comparing myself to the others. If I don't get accepted this year, I know I can apply next year but the fact that I would have to see them freaks me out.....has anyone been in this situation?

I completly understand where you are coming from! The unit I work in had 5 people applying for anesthesia school just from night shift! All of us applied to multiple schools but we only had one school in common. It was bad when interview letters went out.....and even worse when acceptance letters went out. 1 out of the 5 made it in. The good news is that the rest of us were accepted somewhere else. As impossible as it sounds, try not to compare yourself w/ the others. You have to think that you have some qualities they don't and vice versa.......but that is w/ all applicants, it just so happens that you are having to work w/ them. Think positvely...maybe you'll end up w/ a friend in the class

I applied the same time as the person who oriented me...my preceptor and friend. I got in, she didn't. I'm sorry to say that it did cause some problems at first, but it has worked out since. My advice would be just to avoid talking about it at work - and if you get in, great, if not, that's ok too - just reapply next year.
