Could I have an ovarian cyst??

Published

Ever since puberty, I have had tenderness and sensitivity in the lower left quadrant of my belly. I've had my doc, check it years ago, but all he said after palpating it was "ovary". Could it be an ovarian cyst? I have always had this tenderness in the LLQ. I have no discharge that I know of, but my periods are absolute murder with heavy bleeding. Please forgive me, but we're talking Hoover Dam here. Anyhow, your insights would be so appreciated. Thanks.

You could definitely have a cyst. I get a cyst almost every month, and it is always on my right side. I too have really bad bleeding. It sucks. :angryfire I know because I thought I was dying and went to the Dr. :chuckle They did ultrasounds at the time of worst pain each month for several months and I am getting hemorrhagic cysts each month. I got on the patch, and they went away. But yeah, they can be really painful, so I hope you get the help you need. As soon as I get married and have a child, I plan on getting my uterus and right ovary taken out. :) Good luck!

Hmmmm...it could be possible. I have ovarian cysts alot too (on the right side), but I also have endometriosis...so I have chronic, constant pelvic pain. :o

Have you ever been checked for endometriosis? That can cause tenderness in your pelvis too...depending on where you are in your cycle (because of the endo implants).

Sounds like you need to pay a visit to your ob/gyn. They can do a pelvic US to look for cysts...usually endo requires a diagnostic laparoscopy to confirm.

Thanks. Went to my OB/GYN last year, and she didn't seem too concerned. Oh yeah, I'll have to get a pelvic ultrasound in order to determine how my internal organs are. My doc says that my opening is too small to get her hand inside to do a bimanual exam. How does a pelvic ultrasound work. What do you have to do for one??

Usually I have a lady partsl US...you empty your bladder and they insert the probe...that is about it. Not too comfortable...

Fun, Fun ....NOT  :chuckle

I would definantly get it checked out darlin'. It sounds like its a definate possibility. I'd get an ultrasound if I was you.

I hope everything gets better for ya. Mandi.
