Cost of preceptorship

Say, does anyone know about how much it costs for the preceptorship? Is it normally by the hour?

As far as I know, its all out of the goodness of their own hearts (and maybe a CEU)... I've found my own through my program.

Agree...they are not usually compensated. Usually they are "paying it forward" or love to teach and know our field needs it.

We used to get anywhere between $10-$20 about the same as charge pay. Now I Precept/mentoring students in community nursing where finicially I get zip!

I do ask students to consider doing the same for those coming after them and to always remember how they felt as student or orientees.

My pay off...a hope of changing the culture one nurse at a time:geek:
