I wanted to know if anyone else has tried the Medical Assistant route in the Dallas area and can tell me about its costs and what you were able to do with the degree obtained. I particularly was wondering about the cost of PCI, and other schools in the area.. Was it worth it? I am trying to get my ADN soon but want a job quick so I can start paying for things. So far I am almost certified as a CNA and don't even know if MA pay is even that different...

Here in NY medical assistants get paid the same, or a little less than CNA's... probably not worth it if you're already a CNA.

Try this website. It's from the Texas Workforce Commission and lists costs of tuition of proprietary schools:

IMHO those schools are way overpriced and will take you several months to complete. Stick with the CNA route and try to get a job while you are in nursing school. Some hospitals will reimburse your nursing school tuition if you work for them. The pay between CNA and MA is similar, but MAs are trained for medical offices. I think as a CNA you will get a better background and entry into nursing.
