Hello Fellow GA Nurses!,
Is anyone familiar with the Correctional Medical Associates company based in ATL? I have an interview for a position at the jail and I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to how the company operates, the management, and most of all the pay; while I understand that you should be mindful about taking a job soley for the pay, I'd be lying if I said that it doesnt matter. I just cant afford (like many people) to take the hit fianancially; things are just too hard, expenses are going up, and wages are staying the same (unfortuanately). It would be nice to get a pay increase. The position is attractive due to the 12 hour shifts; Im temporarily sold on the position just for this reason. No more 8hrs 5 days a week!

Correctional Medical Services?
If it's the same company... run.... don't walk... RUN ..... and stay as far away from them as humanly possible.
This company was started and remains here in the ATL Metro Area. Im not sure if they are some place else too. but on their site, they state that they have been in business here in the city for 20 years; im sure they have a monopoly on the situation.
Nope. Its not the same company, I just checked. Correctional Medical Services is in Augusta, GA; Correctional Medical Associates is in Atl.
Good. Then, I offer no opinion on the other. :)

Hello I am a former Employee and let me tell you that this was one of my worst nursing jobs!!! The shifts were not 12hours when I was there they were 8 and I worked 2-16hr shifts and 1-8hr shift!! The job was easy the coworkers were okay most of the time.. The attitudes were HORRIBLE. The deputies are supposed to be with you at all times for saftey when passing medications in the zone they were either not there at all or sitting afar not ensuring your saftey while in contact with the inmates. As for the pay which was one of the reason I only stayed 8months before leaving.. 1. The benefits are HORRIBLE with copays of $40 and $50 second I found out that nurses had been there for 4 years and working with the same pay No pay raises only if they sign another contract with Fulton County Jail and the rates went up then you would recieve a pay raise.. Thirdly i was only paid 15/hr as a new grad... My current job offered me 16/hr plus annual pay raises.. I hope this helps
