Does anyone know any correctional facilities in California that are hiring LVN's and how to apply?

By the way hi guys! I introduced myself in the other category so my whole history is on there, it will help you guys know my status as of right now. I have alot of respect for all you guys.

I don't think the Dept of Corrections in Calif. hires LVN's and RN'S. I think they require all nurses to become a combination of correctional officer and nurse in order to work. I forgot what they called it. Hopefully, someone in Calif will let us know more information. Check the website

when I was in school about to graduate the dept of correctional came to our school trying to recruit us. They pay really good, but you have to pass certain tests. I think you also have to go through some kind of training. They also told us it takes about 6 months to process your application. I am from California

I am a student vocational nurse and live in San Francisco. Almost every week in the Sunday edition of the San Francisco Chronicle, there is a big ad from the CA Department of Corrections for RNs/LVNs with nice starting salaries. I have visited their website, and it is my understanding that you can apply for a position with the CA Dept. of Corr. 6 months prior to your graduation date. I too, am interested in working in this field when I graduate. Good Luck!

Yes they hire nurses with the undertanding that they-the nurses will be trained to be part correctional officer/nurse. I was told that they don't hire people who just want to be LPN's or RN's period. Yes I have heard that they pay very well with great benefits Best of luck to you! :balloons:
