Hi. My husband and I are getting ready to move to Mathis, tx for his job. I am an RN BSN currently working in pediatrics/ob/nursery. I also have almost two years of med/surg experience and work part time at an infectious disease clinic. We don't know anything about the Corpus Christi area and I am looking for a prn job in the area so that when my husband is off work we won't have any problems coming home to see family. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much Spanish so I know this will be difficult.

There are 3 hospitals in the area; Corpus Christi Medical Center, Christus Spohn & Driscoll Children's. With your experience & since you have your BSN, you won't have any problem getting a job.

There aren't any real requirements to have to know Spanish. I've lived in the area off & on since I was 9 & I'm not bilingual. That has never stopped me from getting a job.

Thank you! That makes me feel better. Do you know if there are many prn positions in the area? Do you prefer one hospital over another? I have never been to the area and I don't want to end up in a part of town I don't need to be in.

I prefer CCMC & Driscoll over Spohn. Spohn is just terrible. Yes, there are a lot of PRN positions available (mostly with CCMC & Spohn). The only "bad part" of town is where one Spohn is.

There is also a hospital in Alice (spohn) that is going to be the same distance away from Mathis as Corpus. There are a lot of doctors in the area that may be hiring as well, for their practice. Let me know if I can help!

There is a Spohn is Alice, multiple hospitals in Corpus & a Spohn in Beeville. Since you're living in Mathis, Corpus Christi (well outter Corpus), Alice & Beeville are a 30 minute drive.
