I am a US LPN, trained here in the states. I have completed most of the pre-reqs for continuing into the local LPN - RN bridge program. My Wife has accepted a great job in Hong Kong. I already know about the issues of trying to become an LPN in HK. My question here is about continuing my education and becoming a BSN while we are there. I can fall back on my prior career of IT and also Sales/marketing while I do some more education.
My questions;
What schools are available in HK for BSN and/or LPN-RN Bridge?
If I receive my RN while in HK what barriers might there be in returning to the US to work?
If I receive my BSN while there what barriers are there to my coming back the US and getting licensed?
What barriers if we choose to return to Canada? (my wife is Canadian)
What if we choose to NOT come back to the US or Canada? (i.e. Caribbean, UK, Australia)
Any other input on HK would be great. My wife has lived there before, but I am very interested in continuing my new career while we are there.
Hello?...... BUMP.

I think you are going to have to do the research on this one. Does HK still follow the British model of nursing or is it following the Chinese? British ENs (roughly equivalent to the LPN) are basically an extinct species and were given the option of upgrading years ago (probably before HK reverted to China).
So good luck with your research and let us all know.
You must speak Chinese to enroll in any nursing program in HK. Clinical are in public hospitals filled mostly with older lower income pts who don't speak English. There are BSN and MSN programs conducted I. English but you cannot comets clinicals without speaking Chinese.
I am returning to US in Januaey to complete my BSN at Az State U.
HK is still on the UK system (they try to be England 40 years ago in many aspects for education to law etc) and they have enrolled muses. But as a white male enrolled nurse I would never get a job here. The local culture is , overall, very narrow and closed minded. Racism, sexism, and ageism rear their ugly heads at all extremes constantly. Had some fun here , glad we did it , but can't wait to get out o this place!
