Continuing Education

I just got into my ADN program last week, and I'm thrilled! I always jump the gun planning things, so I'm wondering about the best way to continue my studies.

I've heard that employers will sometimes pay your tuition in exchange for a contract to work for another year or two after you get your degree. I heard this in the context of CNAs becoming LPNs and RNs, but are there similar programs for RNs?

once I have my ADN, is further education out of my own pocket, or can you find hospitals that would help you to become a nurse practitioner?

I'm also interested in community health, sustainable development, and medical anthropology, so the likelihood of my going back to school is pretty high. honestly half the reason I'm becoming a nurse is so I can find work in states I want to go to school in, get in state tuition, and make enough money to afford to pop in and out of school forever.

I went to graduate school with my employer paying for it. They had a limit per semester, but since it took me 6 years, that wasn't an issue. Then I had to work for them for 2 years...

You may want to look into the nursing scholarship program that is offered by the Health Resources and Services Administration. If you qualify they will pay 100% plus a monthly stipend while you are in school. Repayment is a 2 year committment in an area of the country that has a critical nurse shortage.
