Content Guides

I'm very excited and eager to get started with my first nursing exam. Im wondering if it's a bad idea to purchase the textbooks on the current content guide even though I may not be ready to test until after sept 30 which is the day they recommend you test by! Ugh .... Should I just get the books or wait for an updated list?

I had purchased the med surg and fundamentals from amazon wen I took my first exam and found out later that the med surg text was changed. However the material I. The text books are the same and the only other books I bought were an old edition of the recommended text for transitions and chronicity for like 6 bucks each. To be honest, I didn't even use those text books. I do refer to my med surg and fundamentals time to time. Keep in mind though if you wait to buy books and are still in the program next year, happens to must of us, that excelsior will still change the text books to either different authors or updated edition. Good luck!

Thanks;-) so basically your not really using the recommended texts. I think I'll shop around for the cheapest I can find even if it's an older ed. What is study guide 101 I keep seeing it everywhere!

It's studygroup101 - they do study guides for the nursing exams and some of the pre-reqs and sciences. They have a website and you can get the study guides on cd or download - I linked the name above. I'm using them along with the textbooks for med-surg and fundamentals and I've taken two exams and gotten A's on both - I really think they are an excellent bargain at only $9.99 for the downlaod version, (they charge shipping for the CD, but it seems pretty cheap).

Studying now to take 2 more exams and hoping for 2 more A's!!

That's so great to hear. I'm rooting for u. Keep up the good work;-) thanks for the info gurly.
