Where you consolidate is where you have the best chance of getting a job, providing you are doing well and your preceptor recommends you. Once you are in a facility you can generally transfer to another unit after a year or so. Your first job does not reflect your career, however you may really love the 'rehab' and stay forever.
The semester before I was due to graduate, 4 people were hired from their consolidation on the floor I was on.
However, during my semester that same floor was closing beds and asking if nurses wanted vacation. Budget cuts, so nobody in my group was hired. It depends. As Lori said, take whatever you can find.

I would like to know from your experiences, if consolidation practicum experience can be limiting for job opportunities as a new grad, for example, if a student is placed in Rehab but wants to get a med/surg job as a new grad, is this difficult to obtain or transition to?
I appreciate any feedback
Thanks!
