Hi everyone...i moved from New York to Miami Florida 2 years ago this june...I am currently in an LPN program graduating june 8th ...my fiancee (who is currently in New York) and I are seriously thinking about moving to GA...we have a boy is going to be 3 in July...I grew up in Westchester County New York in the suburbs (Ossining) which was ( close enough to NYC (30minutes) but far enough to live peacefully and the schools were great)...only problem is that now my 14 year brother wants to live with me (family issues)... any recommendations as to were to live ...by the way prices dont seem to be too bad in certain parts...Ga is very cheap compared to new york...and i undrstand that the pay balances out...my father lived in Marrietta been there twice for about a week but didnt really get to know ther area, and i have cousins who live out in Auburn...any "safe" and great towns out of ATL with decent schools anyone recommend??..i know im kinda asking too much but can someone give me a ball park figure of "hourly" pay for an lpn in LTC or HOsp,, and Agencies...any one recommends a good agency that pays well and treats their nurses nice...cuz the state of florida treats us like crap...yes pay is important , (please dont think im all about money) i am greatful that i am being trained in a supper strict school...and cariong for people is what i have been looking forward to...Thank you

Any city outside of Atlanta have great schools. The median pay for a LPN in Atlanta is 36,454, Which I believe is more that enough money for you, your hubby, your baby, and your baby brother to survive off of...

Welcome (possibly) to GA! I'm from NYC originally and am slowly making the transition into the suburban life.
Right now East Cobb and Gwinnett Counties have the best public school systems in the Atlanta area. East Cobb can be a pricey undertaking, but it's not impossible to find a house in the $200s if you're willing to live in an older home. Gwinnett is a developing area and may offer more affordabl housing. Plenty of hospitals are around that you can work at that are near or accessible to both of those areas.

hi ,
i moved here from NY as well. my husband and kids needed a change. I lived in the Bronx. any how i love it. we brought a house in smyrna(cobb county). the schools are excellent and the area is very quite. coming from the big apple i needed that. i am about 15 min away from metro ATL without traffic
( I 285 is really close). i agree with the other posters anywhere outside of ATL. and yeah Gwinnett is great too,but because or their redeveloping everything seems really spaced to me .
well good luck
