Considering Case Management Masters program at Samuel Merrit

Published

I just went to an info session for Samuel Merrit at their Sacramento campus. I am interested in either the accelerated BSN or the master's program in case management.

I am eventually wanting to earn a master's degree so the master's program is tempting...but I have zero health care experience. I am trying to get a position as a volunteer in a hospital, but so far no luck.

*Is it worth the money for a person with little to no experience to shell out the big bucks for the master's program? (The program costs a total of $87K ! :o).

I want to 'go for it' but my as my head weighs in on the debt that I would have to incur and the bad job market, I'm leaning toward a 'no go'.

I'd love to hear from anyone who is in this program currently or who is a recent grad.

Specializes in Home Care.

I wouldn't do it, way too much money.

The case management nurses I met all got into case management after being on the floor for years.

The MS in case management would be useful if you were already a case management nurse pursuing a management position.

Spend your education dollars wisely, get the best bang for the least amount of money. You don't want to be paying back student loans for the rest of your life.

I don't know what's going on in your state, but many hospitals offer tuition assistance.
