Connecticut State Community College - Selective 2025/2026 Admissions

Published

Hello. I am looking to apply to the CT State Community College - Capital Nursing program for the 2025-2026 semester! I have completed the required pre-req's for admission, and completing additional core but not required courses (Ex. A&P II) when the Fall semester opens next week. I'm likely going to apply to more than one selective admissions program to be sure I follow the destiny meant for me.

I'm wondering what everyone's stats are as we all are getting ready to apply to the selective admissions program. Mine are...

A&PI : A

TEAS: 79.3%

Nursing GPA: 3.7

Happy studying, and selective admissions application time fellow students!! I hope this thread proves to be as productive as others have in years past 🙂

I could be wrong but I have also heard that some schools are no longer accepting online science credits so definitely check but I was also told that the state schools such as ECSU, CCSU.... will accept and transfer all classes and degrees from ct state community college. Keep in mind a lot of those school have a B- req vs a C  Or C + req for sciences also.

Thank you! I will try to look into that. I was planning on taking it next Summer or over the Winter but now that I can't I'm trying to fit it around my schedule as soon as possible.

I emailed the nursing director and this is what she said....

Congratulations on your acceptance to the nursing program!

The nursing 1120 class is held on Mondays OR Wednesdays depending on the one you register for.

For Mondays-class is 9:30-3:30 with a Tuesdays & Wednesdays nursing lab from 8:00-4:00 pm (nursing lab is for the first six weeks of the semester, then students are assigned to the hospital facility)

For Wednesdays-class 9:30-3:30 with a Thursday & Friday nursing lab from 8:00-4:00 pm. (nursing lab is for the first six weeks of the semester, then students are assigned to the hospital facility).

After the first six weeks, students are assigned to a clinical facility for the remainder of the semester. If you register for a Monday class, you could be assigned Tuesday & Wednesday day shift from 6:30 am-3:00 pm OR Tuesday & Wednesday evening shift from 1:30-2:00 until 9:30-10:00 pm.  OR Saturday and Sunday day shift 6:30-3:00 pm.

The clinical coordinator determines students' clinical placement based on a survey results (sent to students at the beginning of the fall semester) and what the facilities approve. You can enter in the survey that you are unable to be assigned to a weekend clinical (the majority of students are assigned clinical on weekdays). Clinical placements vary from semester to semester and are not guaranteed to meet the needs of childcare and/or employment.

How many hours is each clinical class?  I heard the schedules show more times then what your actually going to be doing

She did mention on the email, but I'm sure it may vary?

I hope because I thought my advisor had said it's like 4 hours at a time not 8

Do clinicals replace the labs after the first 6 weeks?

It seems labs become clinicals. I had to let my manager know today I will leave in August! Because there is no way I can work my job with this schedule.

Well where ever I just saw that the nursing director said (excuse me if it was your post I've been reading a ton of these!) labs are from 7-4 or 7-3 during the first 6 weeks on Tuesday and wednesdays for labs doesn't add up to what the schedule says and I am really hoping clinicals aren't 8 hours and that they may be broken down into 4 hour sessions out of those 8 hours per day like I though I was told

I guess we will see! That's what she told me. Time will tell LOL

From past students I have talked to, they said to expect between a minimum of 8 hours, to as long as 12 hours because those are the most similar hours to what nurses work in the hospital. It sets you up for expectations of real work shifts.

Has anyone made a Facebook group? For accepted nursing students
