License Renewal

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I am an RN from the Philippines. It has come to my knowledge that the renewal of license differ from State to State. In Connecticut, licenses are renewed annually during the licensee's month of birth. I am planning to take the NCLEX on March 2007. If for example I will pass the exam and I will be issued my license, do I have to renew my license on June of 2007 (my first birth month which immediately follows the issuance of my license?) What if I am still here in the Philippines, still waiting for my Packet 2 of my immigrant petition? What will I do? If I will be unable to renew my license, does that mean I will have to retake NCLEX all over again?

No, you don't have to renew your license twice in 2007. Your following renewal date would just roll over to your b-date in June of '08.....

Once you get your licence, it doesn't matter if you still live in PI you can still renew your license. I know nurses who have licenses for 3 different states and live here in CT. You are obligated to update address when you move.
