I need somebody who has taken the NCLEX exam, regardless if it's RN or PN, to reply.....because I'm ready to pull my hair out from confusion.
Back in the beginning of the month, when my class filled out the applications for Licensure & the Temporary Permit, our instructor told us that we COULD NOT register with Pearson until AFTER we were notified by the State BON that we could.
Well today I receive in the mail a notice from the WI State Dept of Regulation & Licensing saying they've received all the neccessary paperwork except the graduation statement from school. In the comment section, it says "If you have already registered and paid to take the NCLEX exam, you will be made eligible at the same time the temporary permit is issued". Why would I have registered if I was told that I COULDN'T until AFTER the State said I could.......which they still haven't?
Also, another classmate received the same letter in the mail, except hers told her that she could go ahead & register with Pearson & pay the testing fee, but she couldn't schedule a test date yet. Why didn't mine say that?
When I called Pearson to question them, the person there confused me even more because she said I had to be declared "Eligible" by the State before I could register w/Pearson. But then this woman turned around & asked if I wanted to register with her over the phone at that moment after I just finished telling her that I hadn't been declared "Eligible" by the State yet.
So can I, or can't I, register with Pearson yet?

Swee2000,
Relaxxxxxx and breathe! I understand you're stress. I take my NCLEX next week. First you can register with Pearson now and pay your testing fee of $200. Once the board of nursing gets your application and affidavit of graduation from your school of nursing then they will sent a notice off to pearson to allow you to test. Go to www.vue.com and register and have them notify you by email (its sooo much quicker than by snail mail) I got my ATT the same day my board of nursing approved me. once you get your ATT, go back online to pearson or call them and you can sign up for a test date and time.
Good Luck...hope I helped!

..I take my test next week too! I hope I'm qualified to answer your question..LOL...Anyways,your school told you you could not register because they know not everybody would be approved to take the nclex by the BON and the $200 to pearsonvue is even non-refundable, so that if one is not eligible for any reason, their money goes down the drain. So they wanted to make sure you are eligible as determined by the state before you can pay pearsonvue to take the test. However, if one knows that they don't have any issues that might prevent BON from making them eligible, i really don't see the reason to wait, I paid mine ealier..Going by what you said, i should think all you need to do right now is to pay to pearsonvue, at the same time you have to find out from your school if they have sent in your affidavit of graduation to BON. I see your classmate has been given the go-ahead to register , meaning that your school must have sent your school's affidavit to BON. Bottom line, find out from your school that yours was included, or you can call the BON to make sure you are already eligible, then you can pay the $200 to pearsonvue. The earlier you register the better. The best bet is to look online and see available appointmnet dates and schedule ASAP. No need to call them.I hope this helps..

Sounds like you kinda got the run around! Here in North Dakota we had to send our money to the BON along with our application signed in front of a notary and at the same time we had to register with pearsonvue and pay the fee to test. When the BON recieved our transcript from the college, then they notified pearsonvue that we are eligible to test and then pearsonvue notifies us that we can now register for a date. It was quick and easy. I had my ATT within a week. My advice would be to register with pearsonvue and wait for your BON to notify them of your eligibility and then they will notify you.
The best of luck to you!
I contacted the SBON today & they said my instructor was incorrect in saying we could not register w/Pearson prior to being notified by the State that we could. In fact, the lady from the SBON said we could've registered before we even applied for licensure! So now I'm all registered with Pearson & am just waiting to be declared "Eligible". :)
To Alex1: Sorry that I came across like I was having a panic attack. My post sounded more frantic than I was, to be honest. I was frustrated, yes, but not frantic. But thank you for the advice, nonetheless.
